I can't seem to find it, but I am being told that the FCI regulations have changed with respect to bitches in heat at shows? That they are allowed to compete now? Could someone please fill me in on this one?

In Holland, they are allowed on shows, since June last year if I remember correctly. You cannot (officialy) compete with a bitch in heat on trials. In France for example, you are not allowed to enter a bitch in heat (asked the French Kennel Club about this a month ago). So nothing to do with FCI, more with country rules and regulations.

In Australia we can and do show bitches in heat, but of course not at trials. They are checked to make sure. Wendy

In Belgium, they are also allowed, since this new year. Know there is also an intermediar class, for dogs between 15 and 24 months. Another change is that the veteran must be 8 years old (last year it was 6 years).

In Poland generally you can not show bitch in season but we do it from time to time if the show is very important but there is always a risk that a judge will disqualificate your bitch (hopefully I have never met such situation).

In Russia it's the same as in Poland. It's not allowed and bad form. But anyone breaks a rule very often.

In New Zealand there is a law which says bitches in season must not be in a public place. The NZ Kennel club has no rule about letting bitches be shown so many are shown, some people hate it and some people dont mind as it makes male dogs perform well. Cyd
