I just found my Leonberger dead after a torsion I completely missed. We were about to in a couple of days, she never gets to live in her new home.

Mar we are so sorry for your loss of Pien. We have to say, that although we saw her only once for such a short while, both of us thought she was a lovely girl, and she was an absolute credit to you. She was an old girl, but in fabulous condition, and for sure your care of her extended her life beyond expectations for her breed.
Perhaps plant a 'Pien' rememberance tree in your new garden?
But remember Mar, she can be with you always......... in your heart,
Much love, Nina and Duncan x

BIg Hugs to you Mar, many comforting hugs...so sorry! Maybe Pien thought it would be easier on you this way, fast and strong, instead of lingering with her pain...the brave girl! As brave as you...am thinking of you, and send comforting thoughts to u. Remember the happy times, she is waiting for you and watches over you - Much Love, Cheryl

Thanks all for all your sweet words! I really appreciate it.
My big hairy girl will be dearly missed, just like my cat Miesemous, who died 2 weeks ago. All bad things come together I'm afraid.
I keep saying to myself that although she died a very nasty dead (or death, whatever), I'm sure she passed away at the right time. She was feeling very good at the mo considering her condition. If she wouldn't have died, I would have to make that decision. I'm strong enough to do that, but the problem is, when is the right time??? When you see a dog every single day, it's hard to find that time to say it's enough because she's suffering. You keep setting the boundaries, which is usually for yourself and not for the dog.
Pien has had a good life. She's been very active for a Leonberger she's made loads and loads of kilometres over the years, unlike a lot of her colleague Leo's I'm afraid. I was blessed having her.
Bye for now Pientje!

Just got a phone call from a friend. He told me a dog he raised for a hunter was killed by a car yesterday. He was only 2.5 y/o.
I also received an e-mail late last night from one of my puppy buyers. They have Chara, a sister of Billy. The mom has cancer and apparently things are so bad at the mo, that they asked me to take care of Chara for a week so they could sort things. She's dying apperently. What a shitty week this is and it has only just started........
