I would appreciate any advice on flying a puppy from Tasmania Australia to a city in Western or Eastern Europe. I live in Riga, Latvia but I would be willing to drive somewhere to pick the puppy up. I have so far contacted some companies but Latvia seems to be a "rare" destination according to them and it costs a lot more.

Irena, you shouldn't need to deal with any shippers in Europe, your breeder in Australia has many companies that will organise everything for you. We have shipped about 25 Wei puppies overseas to various places throughout Europe too including 2 about to go to Poland and Croatia (actually flying into Vienna)... my shipper actually says Latvia is one of the hardest but what are your neighbouring countries - somewhere else may be easier ... Thanks Narelle! Yup, you are right, we are also thinking now about flying my puppy into Poland and then I'd drive there and pick her up. The shippers got all confused about the export regulations (thanks to the slightly outdated AQIS database ) so I had to deal with them to convince them there were NEW regulations now. But I think that is all settled now and we are talking about flying my puppy into Warsaw Poland too. It is only 600 km from Riga Latvia, not that far at all.

Simple to Poland, usual vaccinations at 12 weeks plus rabies vaccination; pup can fly to Poland 30 days after that ... you don't need to do anything really; airline will call you to make sure there is someone to meet pup at the other end!!! Our shipper is Dogtainers NSW (each state has different people and operate differently); they always get the most up to date information and do not relyon the AQIS website. Narelle
