For some reason all of the link doesn't transfer, but if you copy the whole thing - including the ar a Valencia etc .. bit at the end - into the menu bar you should get the thread on the french Weimarener Forum. It's a story originating from a dedicated french Rescue board, and there are moves underway to try and get the dogs to a french refuge, but obviously a contact in Spain would help enormously... I can help with any french/english translation, but unfortunately no spanish... any help greatly appreciated!

I can't even get past the french login - the link does not work. I don't speak french - only english, german and reasonable spanish - sorry. I could not take any more dogs on myself (we have to many people staying here during the summer months in the Holiday Casitas), but might know some people out here who would be interested. Is there anyone who can give me more details?
It is always sad to see these lovely dogs ending up in any rescue, but we just can't change the world nor the people in it who take on dogs and then disgard them like rubbish. Dreadful!!!!

If you know anyone who may be interested/able to help I would suggest using the email address I gave in the first post. carmenrufito@hotmail.com You can see the original thread on 'Rescue' here - again for some reason it doesn't accept the whole link so you have to copy into the menu bar- rescue.forumactif.com/Appels-et-SOS-c1/SOS-Adoptions-Urgentes-Chiens-f1/URGENCE-avant-eutha-2-braques-de-Weimar-a-Valencia-Es-t107851.htm?highlight=WeimarYou can see the photo there. The text basically says that someone wrote last night and is waiting for info back on whether the dogs can be brought to France. With the original link I posted you do need to logon to read posts, I had forgotten, but it's basicaly the same story, people trying to find them a place in France. I would doubt very much that they would let the dogs go to be brought into France, and someone in Spain would stand a much better chance I think. I know we can't change the World, just posting in case anyone can help.

For those who prefer spanish to french here's the spanish ad with a contact for the dogs valencia.loquo.com/ps/comunidad/mascotas-animales/nilson-y-sena-muy-urgente-su-adopcion/347712Thank you for spreading the word, if anyone could take them in Spain that would obviously be the best option. On the french side lots of people being contacted and there is a possibility of a foster family in the South, although they already have 2 Weimaraners, and the logistics of getting the dogs here would not be straightforward. Many thanks Julie

Thanks Julie for posting the spanish version - I am still looking and making enquiries. Both of these Weims are boys and even if I could take them, I would then have 3 boys living together and that usually asking for trouble. In our setup here I can't even foster them. It is soooo sad - their owners have gone to live somewhere else and obviously the dogs did no form part of their move. Although they do have a very sad look about them, it looks as though they are well fed and have not been ill-treated.

The news in France is.. it's a brother and sister, not two brothers?! Also there is a lead for someone to adopt the dogs - will know definitely one way or the other tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed, will keep you posted. I agree they look in good shape, but I don't think that is going to help them much where they are right now, apparently Spanish refuges are a bit grim? Thanks for trying Julie

it's a brother and sister, not two brothers?! apparently Spanish refuges are a bit grim? Thanks for trying Julie Julie = the way I read that in Spanish is that they are 2 brothers but then again 'hermanos' could also mean brother & sister if I am not mistaken (Rute - help!! her Spanish is better then mine) I think some of the Spanish rescue kennels are bad as are some in other countries, but I don't think that goes across the board. The Spanish are a lot more 'dog friendly' these days and a lot more caring then years ago when animals did 'not matter'. So sorry, but so far I have not had any success. It does need to be the 'right home' not just any old home for these 2. I would really hate them to end up in another rescue service.

Thank you Tasha! ( do you never sleep ??!)
My understanding is they will be put to sleep if a home can't be found v. soon, which is why there are initiativves to get them out to France even if it's only to a foster family/refuge in the first instance. Finding the right family for two dogs obviously takes time.

Good news - the two dogs are being brought out of Spain and into France by an organisation called SOS Levriers, which is a greyhound rescue group and has the infrastructure in Spain to transport the dogs. So they are no longer in danger, and hopefully with time will find a deent home here. Regards Julie

Hello Muriel After my message saying they were being brought out of Spain with SOS Levriers this fell through, I think because of transport difficulties within Spain. They were also found a place in another refuge in France that doesn't put animals to sleep but again transport up to the border was a problem. However the two were actually adopted last weekend in Spain, so seems to be a happy ending after all.
