So would I;) But we can learn from her doggie experience in the meantime, LOL
I wanted to refer back to her info on dogs easily and I like her fun methods of learning;)
I also like George Hickox's training method of taking a dog or pup out in a field to chase birds, no commands, not calling the dog or pup by name, just fun to begin with, then the training to draw the animal into what you want - not the other way around. In the past, I've gotten requests for help as too many people who've run into problems with their pets get so busy with the responsibility of teamwork they forget it should all be about the eagerness and fun, the joyfulness...its not work, its fun:) Cheryl

depends on the type of dog if its a hard hunter already letting it run lose is making a rod for your own back but this is a method I've used with a dog that doesn't have a strong hunting drive initially

so true, I'm currently encouraging Bully's litter sister and her owner to begin field fun, the poor girl doesn't have much experience in what she was bred for, being kept in town and in an apartment:( We are waiting for warmer weather but trying to encourage visually and to overcome her owner's fear of being in the countryside. Little Pojken is already Bully's match in strong hunting drive! We watched the video's Friday night on tv, he was right there in front, sniffing for the birds he could see and hear...as soon as it warms a bit, we will begin on the ptarmigan introduction. Today is zero farenheit and has been down to -16 below zero for two days through the night and mornings. He has two jackets to wear with this weather, even though Joup said not to baby him, he is a baby yet and just had his 3rd puppy shot so I want to encourage him to live a long life with us;)

Hey Cheryl, how have you been? How is your new baby? I have read that the temps in your area are starting to move upward, are you able to go outdoors more often? Please post some pics of the little guy, would love to see them! take care, jai

Sorry it took me so long to learn how, Jai! Let's hope I can remember how, again;) (Under pictures)
I'd better to train abit on ptarmigan and do some homework or I'll be trying to figure out how to do an avatar, feeling very brave! LOL!
