I have a 1 year and 9 months old male weim who is the most picky dog I've ever seen. Since he turned one he hasn't approved of any kind of dry food that we've got him (tried Eukanuba, Virbac and Royal Canin). He just refuses to eat them. He earlier got raw meat with the dry food but the he started to only eat the meat so we decided to give him only dry food but he refused to eat for a week! So now he has got meat with vedgetables, salmon oil, food oil and sometimes porridge. A few times a week we put some mineralsupplements in the food too. The problem is that he seems to "get bored" with this too, he doesn't want to eat the vedgetables anymore - or at all in the mornings. In the evenings he then again eats everything with good appetite - because he has been without food the whole day. Overall he seems not be so hungry in the mornings - but I donät want to give him food only once a day because he uses so much energy every day that with only one feeding the amount would be so big at once. I wanted to ask for tips with a picky weim and if someone else has these kind of problems? I just don't know what to give him anymore, I don't want to change the food all the time. I'm used to that dogs eat everything you give them so this is a mystery for me...

Maybe it's an idea to give him fresh meat which is already prepared. Check out www.naturediet.net/index.html. This gives you an idea about this kind of feeding. There are plenty of brands that sell food like this. I'm not promoting nature diet, it was just an example of what is possible. Good luck!

My girl who is 7 months goes through her picky stages as well. She just went through a growth spurt and while she was she was eating a kilo of chicken mince a day and 4 cups of biscuits as well as some other things like rice, pasta, chicken legs, wings and lamb flaps but her main diet consisted of the mince and biscuits. Now she has seemed to of stopped this spurt she is not eating much at all, turns her nose up at most everything . I know of other people who have the same problem (picky eaters). I have changed my bicuits to performance which is higher in fat and protein (for active dogs) and I cover them in things like gravy or vegemite melted in hot water, egg, garlic or natural yogurt if she gets picky which helps. Could he be getting food from somewhere else? Maybe if you give bones in the morning and biscuits at night when he does seem hungry and dont leave the un eaten food out so he is not picking just have the two meals a day whats not eaten take away. Try not to worry to much unless he is unwell he shouldnt starve himself and probably knows that in the end you will give in and give him what he wants, they very cleaver!!

are you pulping your veggies or leaving them whole??? One of my pups takes after his sire and spits the peas out... his sister then goes along and eats them for him haha!
