Hi all, This is not Wei related at all, but I am hoping that we have a computer wizz out there who can offer some ideas, before I throw the *%$##*@*$^$^% thing out of the window!!! This problem has happened once before, but not for this long. If I remember, it just went away, but I don't have time. I can search the net and reply to things, such as this forum, I can go to the Yahoo haomepage, but the second I click on 'Mail' the stupid thing puts up the 'This page cannot be displayed - check the link, yada yada yada' message. So I had this idea to get a hotmail one, won't let me there either. My son has a different email, still a free one, and he can get to his just fine. I need this urgently for work as we are getting a lot of emails due to Christmas. I have two different anti virus programs, and they say all is well, although I know that is not necessarily true. Any ideas? ?? Please, all messages through this forum, either here or private. No emails, hey!?!?!?! Wendy in Oz

Not sure of your problem Wendy, but will mention whilst you are talking computers that your website doesn't seem to be working anymore. Narelle

I have been told that running two different anti-virus programs simultanously is damaging to software because each sees the other as a virus. When I installed Yahoo, I had to remove the other anti virus program that I had before it would install. I'd try disabling or removing one of the anti virus programs and see what happens. All the programs I know of have automatic incoming mail scanning-that could be your problem.

It could be SPAM, SPYWARE or a VIRUSPROBLEM. I had it recently. for the spyware try to install a free spyware program. www.hitmanpro.nl (I think available in English) for the spam I use www.spampal.orgdon't use 2 virusprograms, it's not a good idea. We have AVG free. You can find it on google... Hope it can help...

Irena and I both use AVG Free edition. I like it better than anything else I've used(McAffee, Norton, Yahoo)---and you cann't beat the price, FREE. For Spyware, I use LavaSoft Ad-Aware. I like it better than anything else I've tried, it is also free. Anybody here like old movies-or music. You might enjoy taking a look at a website that I use a lot since I discovered it(listening to downloaded music from there now as a matter of fact)---Internet Archive---mostly public domain(out of copyright) movies, audio recordings and text that you can download free. There is a LOT of great stuff on there. www.archive.org/index.php

Wendy, our weather has been making that happen with our computers at work! It works if you're stubborn enough but better at different times of the day, such as NOT at 5 pm when everyone in town is on!
Hey Fred, you mean good stuff like Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Howlin' Wolf, Etta James???

Internet Video Archive is HUGE. It has movies of all descriptions from feature hollywood films, to ephemera like old propaganda film and newsreels, commercials, public relations, instructional, public service and public information films. It also has Audio files, music videos, and digital texts--rare books, photographs, software, games, even old web pages.
Last night, Irena was able to find a lot of information that was on the Wetdog website that she lost when her computer hard drive crashed about a year ago.
Internet Archive is a private, voluntary effort in co-operation with University of California, University of Virginia and University of Michigan. It's collection is open source,(contributions by members) and the collection is either public domain works(copyrights that have expired) or copyrights that have public use permission---the works that do may have some stipulations like only for personal, non-commercial use, acknowledgement of author etc. which will be in the copyright terms of use attached to each file that is uploaded.
Check it out!---I bet you'd like it---and if you have any out of copyright material like that you mention, I'd love to see it contributed---I'd be interested in hearing it too, especially Billie Holliday.
There is ALL kinds of stuff there---you just have to go browse around---I was just listening to some very good files from a live concert by a band called Yonder Mountain at the University of Iowa. I'd never heard of them before---but after listening to them for a little bit, I LOVE it! They are great---and the recordings are very clear and crisp for a live concert. You never know what gold nuggets you'll find just looking through the lists and sampling here and there. I like the old movies.
