Hi Allyson!--well I didn't know you, but I hope we'll get to know each other in the future. Nice to meet you. I'm Fred, in the Kansas City, Missouri, USA area. I am in the Weimaraner Club of Greater Kansas City, and I have a female, Enka, and hopefully will be joined by another one named Audry very soon. I also have two German Shepherd Dogs, Dixie and Riga.

Hi Lynn, sorry I didn't see this for awhile, been sort of busy lately. Heartland Weimaraner Rescue has been doing well. We've rescued over 400 in the last year Gail told me the other day. We have completed our 501C tax status from IRS making donations tax dedutable on US and most state income tax filings. We have also completed the inspections and paperwork and are now an officially licensed Rescue Group, legally recognized by the State of Missouri. All the work is done for the same recognition from the State of Kansas, and we are only waiting for the official notification from Topeka. We are currently working on recognition from Nebraska and Iowa as well. Heartland now has corporate sponsorship from Purina and Walmart, the only breed rescue to have achieved this status from Walmart as far as we can tell.

Ooops, clicked too soon. Anyway, I'm going to pick up a rescue today. Although it sounds like Heartland Weimaraner Rescue is doing so well(and it is), this is somewhat misleading. My campaign and a major part of the Heartland job is spreading the word about good breeding practice, responsible ownership and care for our dogs. We won't consider ourselves successful until the day there are no more Weims to rescue.
