Hi all Have just joined and thought I would give a brief profile as requested. ;D I live in New Zealand in a wee place called Wanganui. My first Wei was Baron, bought as a show prospect but didnt turn out that way....... While I was in UK doing my OE I found Heidi (NZ Ch Ragstone Wroineval) and imported her to NZ. She was my life and I loved her so much, it was over 10 years now since she died but it still hurts and I miss her still. Till recently all my litters were descended from her, I was happy with what I was achieveing till suddenly I found my line was producing HOD and Immune Deficiency. It was a hard decision but I rehomed that generation and have imported from USA Rookie (AM/NZ Ch Tri-D's Greyflyte Grand Slam from Carole Donaldson) and from Australia Halley (Ashlaren Queen of Hearts from Lainie Knox) They will lead the way to the future. Also sharing the house is Foxie a FoxTerrier cross I got from the pound while I was waiting for Rookie to arrive, she is great fun and definitely the boss, oh and musnt foget Kitty who is a grey fluffy cat rescued about a year ago. So thats the family. Me?? Well I am a Midwife and am self employed doing this. It is tough sometimes with long irregular hours but as you can guess is very rewarding. Looking forward to reading about other wei lovers.

HI Cyd!!!! I'm glad you came to check us out! You'll find nice people here. My supervisor at work just left monday for three weeks in New Zealand. Some of us looked up some pictures---it is so beautiful there, it almost doesn't seem real. We are wondering if Marcia will come back or not, LOL. How's the Rook doing? Any plans for another litter?

Hi Cyd, Love your new bitch from Laine, she is just a stunner and I have seen some of your stuff under the Holdfast affix(photos) too- could spot the English link there somewhere, but didn't realise it was so far back!
Also know the Tri-D line, she produced some good field dogs years back. I saw one of her bitches work, and she was a natural backer and a wonderful field trial bitch (she was a Dual Champion if my memory serves me right). She was used to help train the other dogs because she was so steady. Broke her owner's heart when she died.

Thanks for the welcome Fred and Kate. Rookie is well, bouncing round the place.....darned testosterone!!! No litter planned from him till Halley is old enough, so end of next year maybe. He has had 2 litters here in NZ so far, I very pleased with how they are doing. One daughter is being imported to Switzerland as a pet.
Kate, yes Halley is really lovely, she is just being a bit "precious" in the ring at the moment with a dragging behaviour, not very impressive, I need to do some play practice but work keeps happening!!!!!

Hi Cyd! Welcome to the forum! I've always wanted to visit NZ and I hope to in the future. I've heard that the people their are so friendly From the looks of it it looks a bit like Norway (where I come from) with it's fjords and mountains, but you have a better climate ;D

Hi Cyd, welcome to the forum from me and my 3 (soon to be 4) Weims. I too have lost 'all' my lines - I had a litter which were from great parents, but we found so far that the litter has been affected by Mast Cell Tumours to a rate of 20%, so I have had to start over too (which given that of the 4 shown all qualified for Crufts at their 1st show was a big heartbreak). I am importing a bitch from Poland, from super stock - Polish, American and Aussie lines. Anya cannot join us until end of November, but we are really excited.
Nice to 'meet' you,
Nina

Wow, your Halley and our Audry are almost the same age then, Audry is turning 6 mos on 1st June. The show season will then start for her too, only here we can't collect points at such a young age, of course. Will definitely keep fingers crossed for you! If you could post a pic of her (stacked!!), that would be wonderful. Pleeease? ;D

WOW! I didn't know you could earn points toward a Champion title at such a young age! . Is it like Australia where you have to earn so many points after they turn 12 months to become a Champion? Is New Zealand part of the FCI? My goodness, dogs can't even enter shows here until they are 6 months old. Can someone in Europe tell me how old a dog has to be before they earn a CAC(or CACIB)? I think it is 15 months old isn't it? Or is it different for every European country? I know in some European countries that there has to be at least 12 months pass between the award of the first and last CAC (Netherlands). This makes sure the dogs do not become Champions when they are puppies. May be a good new thread for this Forum would be what the requirements are in everyone's country to become a Champion . Perhaps Irena could start that one up somewhere if it hasn't already been done. It would be really interesting. Kate

Hi Kate! Here is what you wanted - euroweims.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=howtoshchIn fact, Cyd has already posted there about the NZ regulations. I cannot judge which system is better or worse, I am sure they both make sense, just that I'm more used to the FCI. ;D

I am totally useless at posting images.....lol I store my pics on my computer so they dont have a url, but Im certainly open to learning more. Here in NZ we can show from 4 months of age, but they are not eligible for a challenge certificate till 6 months. In the past we could show them at 3 months but the Kennel Club stopped that and only allowed babies to be shown in Nursery Stakes class (not against their own breed even) and then that was voted out and the 4 months allowance instated. The final Challenge Certificate over 12 months stops us titling till after then although many dogs have the rrequired 8 well before 12 months.
