Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and new to weimaraners. My wife and I just picked out our dog last week and want to train him for hunting work. I haven't owned a hunting dog before and living in southern Arizona I will probably train him for retrieving and pointing for dove and quail. If anyone has any advice or pointers for training they would be much welcome. Thanks and great to be part of the forum.

Hi, and welcome to the board! I am not experienced in field work as I'm currently raising my first Weimaraner which my fiance and I imported from the Grausturm Kennels in Tasmania earlier this year. But I'm pretty sure you will get advice here!! Please feel free to start a new topic in one of the more specific sections so that your posts get more attention from the "right" people! Our baby's name is Rufus and he is already getting too smart for us, he somehow managed to escape the bathroom even though it was closed. We have gotten him a nice kennel now and have had no jail breaks yet. We are located in Tucson, Arizona but Phoenix is only a short drive away so I will check out the Weim club. Thanks everyone.

Wow, it may be fun for you to meet Nancy then, she does Agility and a lot of other things with her 3 Weims and is an awesome person, very inspiring! Her dogs are rescues (at least one of them definitely is, and his story was on Animal Planet a while ago, his name is Duncan). I am sure your club would know how to contact her!!
