Well, it looks we are starting to have a problem When Athelas was small, he was perfectly fitting in the front of the vehicle (passenger foot compartment area , but now he is too big... It's still ok for short trips, but really uncomfortable for the longer ones. Of course, we can put at the back seat. But he starts leaking all the windows and definitely no one else can sit there anymore. And of course - the car needs dry cleaning every time! Please tell me what do you do?

Well Uoga is always sitting on the back seat of the car, sometimes she starts to lick windows or do something else or behave naughty, but we told her of and now she is sleeping almost all the traveling time. Maybe You should put some coverlet on the back seat of Your car or maybe if the car is big enough You can try to transport him in the crate....

I would also recommend a crate, dog feels good in it, and you indeed have plenty of space in your car. Mostly all owners transport their dogs in the cages, it is very comfortable in shows, you can leave your dog for a rest there:)

I'm guessing you don't have space for a crate but you could try a special seat harness for your dog - I have seen those advertised. Also, I bought one of these for the back seat - it's a hammock and covers the entire back seat area. Even without a dog on the back seat, it's very useful and stops the interior getting dirty. www.doghealth.co.uk/hammock.htmYou could also try a pet tube for the back seat: www.dog-bag.co.uk/Not sure whether that would work but it's an idea.

errr... I cheated and swapped the car I found with one dog I could get away with a car harness but with three its a little more difficult they all push about trying to get more room so I now have Ayla in her puppy travel crate, bonnie next to her in the back behind the dog guard and when Graf comes to stay he's in with bonnie. ;D ;D Works a treat and I can still take my spaniel and another when I want to as well ;D ;D Have to say tho parking is a nightmare...

heheh, I myself do not care about those windows:) Who cares, it's just a vehicle! My dog sits still almost all the time we are traveling, usually she sleeps, I guess she understood that you can get seasick when standing in a moving car:) I hope she'll keep sleeping all her life:) Adatele has enough space in her car ( in a trunk place), so I would create something there:)

Thank guys a lot for your advises. So, after long considerations I have decided to get a dog-bag and put it in my car trunk (I drive SUV). Actually it was the only thing that I could find available in Lithuania.... Ehh, disadvantages of small market..... so, the thing looks like this It has some advantages and some disadvantages, but hopefully it will work. Athelas doesn't feel very happy in it (especially if I want to zip him in), but I hope he'll get used to.... Well, I was thinking of the crate as well, but the problem is keeping the crate in the car. My work involves some traveling. Sometimes I have to give a lift to some colleagues, or put some bigger things in the trunk. So everyday to put in and out this metal crate.... requires lots of efforts. And at the end Athelas (or the car;)) will be suffering due to my lasyness.... ;D
