I know of a few US Weims in France and I'm sure I've seen some information on French Weims but can't locate it right now. Can anyone point me to a few websites for French Weim Kennels? What is the general opinion of the working ability of the Weims in France (the non-imports)?
Thx, Anne

I wouldn't say all these links have great workingdogs ! And if conformation counds, you surely don't need to get one out of France. If a French dog entrer abroad to a show, they mostly are marcked 'very good'. I would recommand, if you like to have a real workingdog, go to Germany. All dogs there need to work, otherwise they can't be used for the breeding. German dogs are sold ONLY to hunters. As a pet, they can't be bought.....

Thanks Leslie & Sylvia. This is a good start.
I have done a little research on dogs in Germany and in Scandinavia but was curious about other countries and hadn't seen much on French Weims.
Thanks again,
Anne

Is it me or do alot of these dogs lack those lovely amber eyes... I have to say I am not a fan of the light green/blue eyes other than in puppies bonnies are now a beautiful deep amber but my old rescue had eyes that looked like liquid gold - stunning.

Our breed standard states (Eyes - Medium-sized in shades of amber or blue-grey) my preference is the blue grey colour so that is what I like in my lines. We are all going to be different in what we prefer. Cyd

I like light eyes myself, but eye color isn't a priority for me. What is important is what's between their ears. Anne

I want dark coats and amber eyes... Don't like these light blue eyes and almost light beige coats at all.
In our standard it says:
Ögon: Ögonen skall vara mörkt till ljust bärnstensfärgade med intelligent uttryck. Valpar har himmelsblå ögon. Ögonen skall vara runda och aningen snedställda. Ögonkanterna skall vara väl åtliggande.
Translated (the part about the colour)
The eyes shall be dark to light amber with an intelligent look. The pups have skyblue-eyes.
How is it in Germany.. as It is the origin of the breed, theyr standard should be the one to go after?

There are at least 3 different standards. All countries that are linked up to the FCI have the original standard who is made in Germany the county of origin of the breed. The two other standards are from England and off course the USA . They allow a different eye colour

The standards that I have seen state amber in adulthood and blue as pups. I don't know why but that liquid gold colour is beautiful but obviously personal preference.

Foster after his bloodtrack in Sweden, 2005. The wonderfull picture was taken by Robert Josteus. I was so proud that he did his job well and so happy with this photograph. Most of the times, whem you are working with your dog, you don't have the time to take pictures. And his eyes, so beautifull colored. Gr. Ina
