This weekend, we had 2 am field trials all breeds in Belgium. In fact the first this summer.
We had nice weather, good wind. We entered Ginger the 2 days. Judges were Mr. Nargaud and Ms. Jocelyne Haegeman.
We are very pleased with Ginger's work, unfortunately no qualifications. The field with betraves (bieten, don't know the English word) was a nice place for the FT.
My husband normal hunt with her, but he couldn't go, because of a funeral at work. So I had no choise, I needed to go. My first trial !! I was so nervous. ;D
I was lucky to handle Ginger, as I didn't had to do a thing . She surely matured in her huntingskills, she runned with style, pointed a pheasant very nicely. Unfortunately, the pheasants didn't wanted to fly . No luck, and... I made a mistake not to leash her as the pheasant stayed on his place. She went into faults, but I had no idea that it was wrong !
The judge said: your dog works nicely, but you need some more practise ! Well, I'm happy that I went to the FT, but of course, you have more chance on qualification, if also the "couple (handler & dog)" is correct !
Today, second trial. This time, my husband handled her in the field. Woooow, she did a nice job, runned nicely, pointed again looong time. Plenty of time to approch, flush together, only.... again the pheasants didn't wanted to fly OMG, how bad can things go !!!
The judge was very pleased with what she saw. She congrated Ronny with Ginger's style of running, headposition, pointing. She was impressed, even said, you should enter her to the open FT's, she is good enough. This was a great compliment for us, from a judge who is also a breeder and fieldworker of GSP.
We missed this weekend only good game, as Ginger is very steady on the flush and shot. So we hope to do more FT this autumn and finally catch a FT qualification !!!
