Today I had to make the very hard decision to say goodbye to our darling Flynne. - Ch Waldwiese Just Whispa It (S: Ch Divani Play The Game AI , D: Grand Ch Divani Rumour Has It TD). Flynne would have been 10 years old next January. Flynne had been diagnosed about 2 years ago with a degenerative spinal condition caused most probably by the jumping she had done when training for Agility years ago. Up until yesterday she was able to join the other dogs in their morning run but was starting to stumble a lot. Yesterday she was unable to get herself up when she fell. Today she cried in pain for the first time when I tried to help her up. She was gradually losing control of her bladder and bowels. I had always promised her that when she couldn't do the things she loved so much I would release her from her pain. Flynne was not a big winner in the show ring, much preferring to be a couch potato. She did however produce 2 lovely litters and 3 show champions for us. Flynne - our 'Long Eared Leaping Around Hound' was loved by many people that knew her. She had a sweet loving nature and a heart as big as she was. We will miss her so much. Goodbye dear Flynnigan. Lois

I don't know what to say - words fail me at times like these.
But with Cassie by my side, who will be 10 next week, I know how close the bond grows over the years of shared love.
Our thoughts are with you....

Lois, I am really sorry to hear of Flynne's passing. She will be running freely through the paddocks at Rainbow Bridge, thankful for her release. I'll light a candle to guide her on her way....
Hugs and slurps from all at Fyreside. Marg

I am sorry to hear of Flynne's passing, too. My cocker-spaniel had the same problems (and many others) and we had to put him to sleep at the age of 15. I remember my pain and I fully understand yours. It was very hard moment. But there was only pain in his life. So it didn't make any sense...

We will miss our dear our Flynne - our visits will not be the same. She had such a wonderful temperament which she has passed on through her daughter to our "Riggle". We have such great memories of her chasing the ducks around our lake in her funny run - now she can hunt with Indi in heavens' forest. Thinking of you and Claire. Love Lizgundog

I'm very sorry for you Lois. Winning shows has nothing to do with winning your heart, and she obviously knew how to do that.

I am so very sorry for your loss I had to put away my dear old dalmatian last December also because of a neurological problem that made it difficult for him to walk. It was the hardest thing I have ever done and I still miss him so much. Time will let go of the sorrow but the memories will always be with you.

I can't imagine having to make that sort of decision. My heart goes out to you.
If it should be that I grow frail and weak And pain should keep me from my sleep Then you muct do what must be done For this, the last battle, can't be won. You will be sad- I understand Don't let your grief then stay your hand For this day, more than all the rest Your love and friendship stand the test. We've had so many happy years What is to come can hold no fears You'd not want me to suffer, so When the time comes, please let me go. I know in time you too will see It is a kindness you do to me Although my tail, it's last has waved From pain and suffering I've been saved. Don't grieve that it should be you Who has decided this thing to do We've been so close, we two these years Don't let your heart hold any tears.
