In Sweden we have a sport called "rapport" (report).
It's a remnant from WWI, when dogs would run with a message in their collar from one trench to another.
At entry level there is an obedience test, and the dog has to run a short previously scouted area as quickly as possible and deliver a message to a stranger.
At level one through elite the dog runs a long previously unscouted area with a message from one handler to another (you need two handlers in this sport). The dog has to run as fast as possible while still following the track of the handler. As you progress through the classes the terrain gets worse and the stretch gets longer.
Does anyone know an English name for this sport? Does anyone else actually have it, and do you know any Weims competing in it?

We don't have it here, and I've never heard of it.
It sounds really fun though, is there a set of printed rules somewhere(in English)? I think I'll bring this up at the next club meeting and see if anyone is interested.

Nice sport, I must say. I haven't heard of it being practiced in other countries yet, though. I'd really like to teach my dog "rapport". Heh.

what a wonderful thing to do I don't think its a tradition still maintained here but dogs played a their part in both wars and still do today to some degree, its nice to know that something of tradition is still upheld.

We don't have this sport in Australia However sounds really interesting and I would love to get a set of rules. This is something that we could try on a Weimaraner fun day. Can I get a copy in Swedish?... I could get it translated.

Here is the link to the rules for "rapport", however it also contains the rules for the rest of the Swedish working dog trials... If you only want the pages concerning the "rapport" it's in pages 59-64. www.sbk.nu/4498.epibrw
