dear forum, does maybe has seen this befor: have seen a weim, turns 5 years old, and he becomes dark spots on the back. first i thought, it is an irritaion of the skin, because muffin has this too, but after he had an fight with an other male, and at this place he has now some white hair growing. but there is nothing to see and the vet said, it is a "pigmentthing". could it happen, that this dog gets it over his whole body? muffin has a sebaceous gland on his back, should this be removed? does this happen up a certain age? thank you, elisabeth

Hi Elizabeth. Unfortunately I cannot help you with your dark spot problem. This can be caused by loads of things and if it's a pigment-thingy, I suppose it could show up over his whole body. (Isn't he just shedding and is the new hair already showing as dark spots? ?) About the sebaceous gland, that's nothing to worry about. It's only a cosmetic thing, so when it bothers you, remove it. If it bothers the dog, remove it too. If it doesn't bother the both of you, leave it.

Are you sure its not just coating/moulting ? Weimaraners can get dark steel grey or black spots when they coat. Rachel
