As you all know by now Bailey was put to sleep last week after undergoing an operation.
I feel that everyone should be aware of the problem Bailey had.
He was being treated for stomach upsets and digestive problems, which we thought was bloat, when all along he had a tumour on his duodeneum. It did not show up on any X-rays or in his blood samples.
The vet told me that they could try him on cortisone and anti-biotics but couldn't guarantee the long term prognosis. The tumour could not be removed and would continue to grow anyway so we made the decision to have him put to sleep.
We had a wonderful life together and to think of him possibly in continual pain and discomfort was not an option I was prepared to take. There was no betterness for him.
Everyone out there, please be on your guard.
We are still trying to come to terms with our loss.

I'm sorry for your loss Tara, it is hard when it comes unexpected like that. I hope you are starting to get over the initial pain, and that you'll be able to think of all the good times you had together---it takes some time, but after awhile, you still feel sad that he's gone, but you can remember the good times without feeling so badly.
