Chiendog - I am so sorry to read that Felix is so ill. Fungal infections are nasty at the best of times, but when they affect the lungs it's doubly difficult. From what I have read, this disease usually affects people (or dogs) with a compromised immune system. It also says on this (human) website: www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000102.htm#Treatment***The incidence of blastomycosis is 1-2 out of every 100,000 people in geographic areas where blastomycosis occurs most frequently. It is even less common outside those areas.****What incredibly bad luck for Felix to have caught such a rare disease - but how very lucky that your vets have recognized the symptoms and tested for it. Please keep us updated about Felix's progress. My thoughts and prayers are with Felix, you and your family.. Christina

I'm so so sorry to hear this Chiendog. Our thoughts, prayers, positive energy and healing vibes are flowing your way. Kiss Felix for us and send him our best wishes. Also, remind him that the quail and feathered criters are already acting all high-and-mighty, parading around the woods like they own the place. He'd better get well soon and go chase the dickens out of them, show them who's the boss.
Get well soon Felix. rute, miguel, iago

What kind of meds is he on Craig?

What kind of meds is he on Craig? He is taking Itraconazole (Sporonox) for the Blasto. He was not a good candidate for Amphotericin B since his kidneys were already showing some signs of weakness. It takes a while for the Itraconazole to have an effect. Hopefully we will start to see some real improvement over the next week.

I'm only just catching up with everything after the move. I'm very sorry about Felix--and I know how badly you can feel--I hope the pain passes soon and you can remember Felix with a smile instead of a tear.
