Hi all. Well today is the day. We took Rana for the op. We were told to be at the vets for 7.30am. We got her there at 7.29am. NO ONE came until 8.30. By this time Rana was so frustrated and scared. We walked her up and down the street that many times we wore a trench on the path... So, when we eventually gets inside the vets, he told us there were added complications because she "may" have been caught by Shadow, while I was away being very ill. And now I got my hubby carrying on in case anything happens to her. Im worried sick I cant do anything about it now, she having it done right now, My poor Princess Rana, The house feels empty. She will be OK wont she....

No worries Sue. Although there are always risk, with every operation you can think of, we do loads a year and it never ever goes wrong. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and healing thoughts on the way already!

Be prepared for her to take it very easy for about a month, then she will be acting like a teenager instead of a lady, like Misty is doing now:)

HI all. Well, today is another day. Rana came out the other end pretty much OK. She was so very tired last night, as you predicted, and I went to the shop especially to buy her some chicken and rice, which she ate. When we bought Rana and Shadow, it was never our intention for them to have pups. We both busy and have had no experience in breeding, so the safest thing was not to let them mate. I did have an appointment at the vets to discuss getting Shadow castrated,, but as you know, I fell very ill at Christmas, and had to be carted off to mums for some TLC. It was then that it happened.... The vet told us yesterday she was pregnant. But she wouldnt have known any different as she was only very early. I feel like a murderer. I know deep down I have done the right thing, but for myself only. How must Rana be feeling. I feel absolutely terrible.

Thank goodness dogs don't think like we do Sue. I'm pretty sure they don't feel guilt like we do. Don't worry about that. Glad she got out of the op ok. Better focus on that, instead of blaming yourself. Hugs!

She'll just lay low for a bit, to recouperate and she'll be careful, too...its that part that will make you wonder if you did the right thing, but as soon as she feels able, you will see so much joy and playfulness:) Mine never mated as I went to great odds to ensure but it was driving poor Misty crazy wanting to do as her hormones were telling her: must have puppies, NOW! She'd give 80 pound Slade and 70 pound Bullet a total bath every evening just prior to going to sleep for the entire night, like they were her pups she wasn't allowed to have. I had Bullet done at the same time, his bite is improper and his front feet toe out a little bit, 2 major weaknesses I refuse to pass on. If I had only done him and not her, he would have still been fertile and she would still be unhappy. Now, they are both extra happy, so endure this quiet time together, and you will not regret it because both of you can use this quiet time to bond tightly and the young guy will also learn from both of you...

i'm sure she will be fine soon. we are having lola admitted shortly for her to be spayed. she is only 5 months so it may be a little while longer. we had wilson neutered 5 months ago but i understand its a more complex operation for bitches. i'm nervous about it all too. hope rayna recovers quickly. gary
