I know she's still recovering but I'd worry about doing something asap instead of waiting since it usually doesn't get better by waiting...(bad results w/a rescue pup in past) I'd try an herbal or Bach essence and ask the vet at the same time. The vet who did the surgery should have aftercare...
Our local vet used penicillin which only worked when the rescue pup got her daily shot but stopped working upon the first day of no shot...after the "breeder" didn't do anything for 6 months:( that's why I suggest getting her help asap, even if she's still sore...I don't know enough about it to be more helpful, sorry...I know I saw something during our last medicinal herb/plant class but have to see if I can find it again so will post again this weekend...

hi cherly,
i'm sorry for any misunderstanding here..nina was spayed almost two yrs ago...i just noticed this a couple of weeks ago afier a long day in the woods, then again a few days later after a long hike. i have since made and appt with her vet, and spoken to a weim owner that has a bitch that seems to have had the same problem. it is a estrogen imbalance that weekens the bladder control muscle...so she takes hormone replacement pills...we shall see what the vet says and i will ask for infection test.
thanks C..

Hi Rita, Is it just a little dribble or a whole pee? Could be a few causes. Post spay incontinence as I undrstand it can happen at any time, and isn't necessarily constant, initially at least. Could also be a bladder infection.
My oldie had it happen once or twice totally out the blue and she didn't know but she'd actually really wet herself while asleep, and when she was diagnosed with Spondylitis, the vet said she could become incontinent, and I said it had happend a couple of times, so we realised it was the start of it - didn't get bad for a few years though.
Nettles can be great - I gave Hannah Greenleaf tablets which are nettles, there will be something over there I'm sure. They really dried her up for a few years after her incontinence became regular.
Once you know what's causing it, you'll be able to find the remedy.
Let us know...

hi muriel,
she realy pee's herself...while asleep. nancy's bitch did the same thing and takes DES hormones to stop it.
this would amswer some questions of stains i have found in the past and wettness, i have an appt with her vet i will get a pee and phoo sample and ask for a boold work up too. my nina has just seemed to get all the luck in disorders. i can get nettles at out goodfood store. and i have a link for the greenleaf tabs spose i can order them.
i will let all know what the doc says..i realy hope it is just a infection i can clear up. have you ever given cranberry tabs to a canine for the infections??
thanks rita

hi all, nina has been to the vet, he seems to feel that because i starteld her in such a deep sleep that it could be submisive urunation ...however we are running a blood workup. her urine was exelent wich points to proper kidney function . i am to keep am eye on it. otherwise it most likely is "post spay hormnal incontinance, treated with DES, man made estrogen or proin a nasel degogestant...i am not wanting realy to do either!!! I have seen this Porin mentiond before do any of you use this for this condition??? have anyof you any used any homeopathics or herbals that i can try first?? i just relay hate the thouht of these other things thanks Rita

Rita, I'd also if possible get someone who is an expert in spinal stuff to look at her - acupuncturist/Craniosacral/ canine touch, whatever is available just to check that there's nothing amiss structurally that could be causing it. As it's a whole pee and occasional so far, sounds like a possibilty.
The Greenleaf tablets or similar are worth trying and won't do any harm. Perhaps dried nettles, oh and dandelion, parsley are good too for 'pee problems'
