Hello dear all my 9-month old pupster Pepper is suffering from very dry, cracked pads. One of the cracks is so deep it looks like a cut...
What can I use to help healing anf the sealing of the damaged skin? I have tried some special healing balm (for humans, used for post-op skin scarring) but the skin on the pads is to thick and rough the balm does not seem to penetrate through it.
I appreciate your suggestions. best

Hi Rute Camrosa is supposed to be excellent. Here is the link: www.camrosa.co.uk/dogs.htmThey do dog kits and I have one here which I am using. It has only been a couple of days so it is too early to tell if is working for my purpose (one of my dogs cut the end of its tail) but it came highly recommended. Why don't you email them and see if it will work on cracked pads? Best of luck. Daniela

What about Aloe Vera?
Then I'd think about boosting the immune system as there has to be an underlying reason for it - feed good food (my preference these days is for real meat, veg, fruit etc) vitamins, minerals etc.
If this is a new thing, try to think back to just before it started and see what changed...

I was wondering about Omega 3 supplements. It is often a lack of this in humans that causes cracked feet. Just a thought. Also there is a new food I have just ordered which sounds fantastic. We have been discussing in on another site so here is the link: workinghprs.myfastforum.org/about1221.html&highlight=
