Today we went to the vet with Lara and Gunnar (Mother and Son) for a DCM scan. Both are scanned as normal. So we are very happy!! ;D Now we can use Gunnar as a stud hopefully later.... Earlier in last year we already tested Vidar and Felicia who both also were scanned normal!

At what age shall I test Boris? Would it be good to do so when his hips/elbows are x-ray'd?

It is a test which have to be done yearly. Mostly young dogs do not have DCM yet. When you are getting him OFA'd he is still very young, so I would say if you want to do a DCM scan do it on a later age orjust before you breed him? Probably the scan will be expensive for you too.

And we haven't seen DCM in LH's yet Cheryl, so I wouldn't worry about it tbh.

still worth testing though if they have a shorthaired parent maybe???
I'm getting bonnie tested this year but am going to join the Dutch club before I do and am going to see about getting Graf done as well would be nice to know as he has dutch ancestry.
Mar can you do a membership form??? Do they still need a recommendation like the UK club??

If you e-mail your correct address, phone number, e-mail addy and all the details of Bonny (full name, parentage, microchipnumber, DOB, KC number, HD score, breeder and hunting test results etc.) you have, I'll make you a member and do the payment for you.

So happy to hear not in LH's (btw, I was probably told that within the last year!) not to worry about breeding Boris for now as i made promises to fulfill first, to his breeders and would ask them and Mar's guidance first. Besides that, the nearest LH bitches are in Canada or down in the states;)
I had MistyRose spayed a year ago in December. I had a scare about her heart before discovering she is hypothroid and am still having to test yearly to see if her medication is proper level.
Boris was in the company of two different bitches in heat, he listened as I told him NO and we did not further entice him, so he did not feel the need to be out of hand- he would have done the mating but I will not allow it and am proud of his interest more to hunt as number one, even over the female attraction. I try very hard not to have him submitted to that, too!
