Hi guys.. this may be a no brainer.. or just another stupid question, but I have to know.. Do pups go thru growth sprts? Falko my dear dog has eaten 2x already today and just now when I was eating my lunch, he jumped to try to get something from my hand. He has never done his, he is not fed from hands, he actually does well when we eat, I feed him first so he does not have any interest in our food,.. but I have noticed that he is has started to ALWAYS look for more food.. he is fed 3x a day and he is not a big boy.. he will be 8 months tomorrow.. help!

They probably do go through growth spurts. However some Weims would eat all day if you let them. It is up to us to lay down the ground rules now before they get the chance to take over.
If you are happy with his energy output and his weight he is probably trying it on. It's a long time since I had a pup so can't really remember if you start to increase about now or decrease but mainly it is best to just use your eye. If they start to get podgy cut it down a bit and vice versa.
Also look at what you are feeding. What is the protein % etc.

They certainly do go through spurts and IMVHO - males are worse than bitches. Luke for example (12 months old this week) I swear would grow overnight ! He was very under weight when we took him on - you could literally see every bone in his body - he looked like skelator ! I would just get him looking nice - and then an upward spurt!. He is only now starting to fill out - chest is broadening. I still feed 3 x per day and is looking great at the moment - but he will never refuse a treat :-). Lizl my bitch (3 yrs old) is a total foodie !!!! she will eat all day long and is always of the "food trail". She is an expert counter surfer so nothing is left on the benches. Neither of them would steal from you - but if you left the room - it would be fair game ! especially for Lizl

Thanks Karen.. sounds like the same here. He would eat all damn day if I allowed it, and he so bad recently when we are eating! Or cooking or doing anything that may resemble something he can ingest himself! He looks a bit bigger, as in height, but he also looks a bit slimmer. Probalby because of the training/hunting thing.
I am hoping he will start to slow it down.. but until then I will keep feeding the never-ending bottom-less pit! LOL
