Why? Because I think they're beautifull... nice color...
THX Szarasfora. I found the website a while ago, but no blue pups for the moment...

But surely what makes a weimaraner the dog he is... is his colour... silver grey? here in the UK the breed standard says... shades of grey from mouse to roe. This is why he is known as the "Grey Ghost".

Please be careful in where you find your Blue. There are people in nearby countries who I wouldn't recommend. In fact, there are very few blue breeders I'd recommend. I don't say that to try and get your business either. I don't know when I'll do another breeding. Here are some questions to ask a blue (or any) breeder: www.blueweimaraner.com/breeder.html. Don't buy from someone inflating their prices to make a buck on the "rarity" of the blue on this side of the big drink. If you'd like more information, feel free to contact me directly. Leslie

I own a blue weimaraner in Little Rock, Arkansas. My breeder is located in my home town. (www.coldspringsexotics.com). I was able to see the stud and bitch prior to reserving a puppy. I would recommend seeing them prior to reserving a puppy. I was able to select which one I wanted. At this time, EISENHAUER (blue weim) is 2 years old.

I doubt we would have that luxury in Europe as they are very few and far between although the numbers are increasing.

A Blue Weimaraner is recognized by the AKC. It is a purebred Weimaraner with a pedigree. The blue color is a disqualification in the standard of the Weimaraner Club of America. So Blue Weimaraners may not be shown in conformation in AKC events or any WCA events such as the ratings tests. They may compete and win titles in all other AKC events such as Agility, Obedience, Tracking and Field. They are also accepted in NAHVDA for hunt tests and trials. Blue Weimaraners may also be shown in conformation under the IABCA for International Championships. For more information about blues, check out www.blueweimaraner.com

If you went based on what is recognised by the AKC we would be in alot of trouble they pretty much recognise any colour that the breeders choose to register. I have seen alot of different registrations with BLACK listed on it for example but there is no such thing as a black Weimaraner.
The WCA do not at this time recognise the Blue Weimaraner as anything more than a DQ although there is some debate about having it reinstated this would require a positive vote from the membership and would have some serious consequences for others in the breed around the world.
