Now I have lost my lines that I have worked for over 9 years to get where I was in my breeding programme... Any ideas in which direction I should now go? Are there any dogs out there that are from the old English lines? Any dogs that go back to the Ragstone lines? Tikka was the only bitch in the litter. her grandad was Gunalt Rover who is from Ragstone Rommel thats on her mothers side. On her dads side she goes back to Bifonda dogs and further back to Ferndyke and Sireva. Anyone any ideas? Lynn

Lynn do you have any particular ragstone dogs you want to go back to?? I can help if you like with the researching, unless you fancy waiting a year in which case if you help me find a nice stud dog I'd be happy to let you have a pup from bonnie she goes back to ragstone lines.
What about asking if any of the litter mates out of tikka's litter are being bred from??? Because they are all boys you might get a bigger choice of litters or you can buy a bitch in from a similar line and breed her to one of the litter mates. That way you get to keep your own lines. Its certainly worth a try.
Did you sell KRITI KHANIA??? She has had one litter would be worth seeing if she is having another then you could breed back to either dock of the bay or to one of his line.
The other option is to take a pup from one of dock of the bays litters and breed it back to one of your dogs out of tikka litter.
Don't be too disheartened you still have lots of options and need not lose your line completely.

Dear Lynn
Firstly sorry to hear about Tikka. How terrible for you. Having just lost our dear Flynne I know how you must be feeling. As for losing your lines I can identify with you on this one. I lost my lines after 18 years when I made the decision not to mate 'Ginja' (Dual Ch Waldwiese Ginja Jones ET CD CDX UD TD TDX) again after only one disastrous litter. Ginja was the most special dog with faultless temperament and, in my eyes, conformation. What I did was buy in the best bitch I could find at that time from lines I really liked. That is when 'Rumour' (Grand Ch Divani Rumour Has It TD) joined the family nearly 12 years ago. She has been a wonderful producer for us. I think sometimes we must accept it is time to 'move on' in our breeding programs. I am not sure what your interests are but if it is showing then I think we have to accept the style of dog changes over the years and what won 10 years ago may not do as well today. You are in the position now to be a buyer and you can sit back and study the dogs that are available to you without being blinded by sentimentality. When you choose your next bitch you can then make the decision when she is mature to mate her to something of the 'old lines' if you feel so inclined. Maybe there will be a super stud around from lines totally unrelated to your old lines, that would produce some stunning babies for you. That will be your decision and it is always nice to have options! By moving away from your old lines you will not be taking anything away from them and their achievements. Look back with pride at what your dogs have achieved but maybe now it is time to look forward at what you can achieve in the future. Good Luck! Lois

Lois & Tasha Thanks so much for your comments. Tasha none of tikkas litter mates are being bred from, in fact no one has bred from any of the pups I have bred. As for Purdey Kriti Khania, she lives with someone I know and I intended to breed from her in march but she never came into season. I have asked them to let me know if and when she comes into season but I cant be sure that they havent had her spayed as she has always been as regular as clockwork?? I will have to wait and see on that front. The problem with breeding back to one of the boys in tikkas litter is that 2 are abroad and the rest scattered around the country. I havent had any contact for quite a while now.
I just dont know what I am going to do right now... I will have to think long and hard about it.
Thanks again for your comments. I really appreciate them
Lynn
