If you want to be a breeder, you are going to have to start by getting into the habit of keeping your house picked up and clean ALL the time.
I was just reminded of that unalterable Law of Nature this afternoon. Irena called and told me that people were coming to look at puppies in about 15 min.
Luckily I had spent most of the day doing laundry, washing dishes, sweeping, folding, putting away........etc., etc., etc.
WHEW!!!!!! (good thing I had)

Hi, another thing which also could be good to have done: some baking! Have just made some nice raspberry-muffins for the puppy-buyers... Don´t want them to have the impression of me being lazy going shopping at the bakery... @nci

Hi Fred.. what do you charge for all of that? I hear that the going rate close to my house is 50euro for three hours of housecleaning!! My husband also cleans and he complains at the same time. My cheapest labour, not the best are 10, 12 and 15....do I need to say anymore? So.. were they impressed with your housecleaning skills and the pups?? LOL Jai and falko

LOL---who said I don't complain??? The only reason there is for doing housework is so that you can complain about it---isn't it?
Anci---you REALLY NEED to look into getting a bread making machine! Severin makes a very good one. It makes a horizontal loaf. There is also a less expensive one marketed by First Austria that makes good bread, but it makes a vertical loaf, I simply prefer the more traditional shape---they both work very well. You simply put in the mix, yeast and water, and the machine does everything, including the baking. A perfect loaf of bread hot out of the oven everytime. With real butter and honey or preserves---you'll think you've gone to heaven! They are virtually unknown here in Latvia--so we make our own mix, but it is easy and there are endless variations from garlic/onion to bannana/walnut---it even has a cycle that allows you to add raisins, dried fruit, nuts or whatever else you like while the dough is being kneaded. It can make breads, rolls, cakes, pizza or pie crusts, preserves, strudles, coffee cakes,---anything you can make out of dough---and fruit preserves and butters. If want a loaf that is different from the traditional shape, for instance, the round loaf like rye bread often comes in, you set the machine to make the dough and stop--then bake it seperately in whatever shape you want.

Right out of the oven--the crust is hard and the inside very soft---which makes it very hard to cut, you need an electric knife to do that well. The crust softens and the inside firms up as it cools.
Mine always comes out perfect---could it be that you were using outdated yeast that didn't rise well? Or perhaps used cold water or had it in a cold room---either of which will cause the yeast to rise too slowly.
Anyway--I love them--BEST inventions ever!!! I can and have made a lot of bread by hand---but it is a lot of work, very time consuming, ties up the oven and it comes out of the machine as good or better than doing it the hard way.

They do all sorts in the supermarket (sun dried tomato et al). Perhaps, I should start from scratch...........LOL

Good morning! Especially to you, Fred! Thanks for the tip - a bakingmachine. Good idea, indeed. I´ll consider that... Even though, if I may say it myself, my muffins were really yummi! Big ones with LOADS of raspberries... Normally, my mom is doing most baking for me. (I´m very spoilt! ) But unfortunately, she has been very ill the last two months at hospital so I have to do it myself. Can´t wait before she´s back home again - to have her sound and healthy and to enjoy her buns and cakes !!! @nci

Good day! Gosh Fred you are a gem of a man/husband/breeder/housekeeper. A word of advice though - if you are this nice to your guests they are not going to stop pestering you guys, EVER! Rute and João Soares, the breeders of our weims Iago and Pepper can vouch for this. They were always SO nice and welcoming to us that now we just keep dropping by every other week or so. SO DON'T OVER DO IT ;D PS- Fred, I'm showing this thread to my husband and shaming him accordingly!
