And I discovered the temperature and how many stops are something to keep in mind. Getting Pojken (Long hair) from Amsterdam everything was set to go before we left Alaska except height, weight, and length. Then, only one or two stops (landings). Also, too cold for Seattle and Alaska to agree on Continental/KLM. In the end, it worked best and fastest to hire DTC/ATF (Animals To Fly) to export Pojken from Amsterdam via Delta. Then we hired an agent in Atlanta Georgia USA to take Pojken through Customs keeping in mind the Health Certificate is only good for 10 days. From Atlanta, Georgia he flew to Seattle, Washington. You must have a telephone number and address in the final destination, which we used as Seattle. Once there, Alaska Airlines has much experience in shipping animals and after a rest for the pup, it was two more stops (landings) to arrive home in Nome, Alaska in heated and air pressurized plane. There is now a 30 day quarantine in home for rabies as he is only 11 weeks during the travel period, too young for rabies vaccination. His breeders accomplished the required parvo vaccination to enter into Nome. I found most of the information I needed from the Continental Airlines site and on the "travel.state.gov" site for USA/international travel requirements. Then I asked questions from those who have already traveled, in case I missed something. Our breeders went above and beyond excellence, for the entire trip and visit. Besides making us feel like cherished family, taking us sightseeing, hunting and working the dam very lightly one day (first time since her second litter all found homes) and working a two year old female out of the same dam along with her owner to give me pointers, screen my intentions, and see the two bitches in action, providing room, board, field gear, taking us to the airport two days in a row very early in the morning, I cannot say enough how well we were treated and cherish them and their family, including their two bitches We cried when we left...
