Trying to find a cheaper flight from Sweden to Nova Scotia, Canada. We found one but it $1000.00 Canadian. That is shipping to Stockholm to Frankfurt to Toronto to Halifax. Looking for a more direct and cheaper way. If anyone can help us would appreciate it! We now have our puppy home. Thanks everyone for your help!

Jenny, just a thought, but could the puppy fly via Amsterdam somehow? It just seems to me like a very popular place for connections and flights all over the world. Or London Heathrow?
Also, I've noticed that if the pup is accompanied by a person, it generally costs much less for the dog to travel (because it travels as excess baggage). Maybe you would consider a nice trip to Europe to pick your puppy up?

This is a good topic, I will be bringing a puppy (Rottweiler) my other breed home to Wisconsin from Spain in March of '06, has anyone taken a puppy on board in a small carrier? If so, what do I expect. Otherwise I know they can go as excess baggage, but how does that work, by weight?
Thanks in advance

Do you want to let the puppy only fly over? We are planning here to bring or let get the puppy of Vidar. Mostly it can be much cheaper, we are going to ask what the size must be for the handlugage and then look for a crate that size. Then we look which flightcompanies are the most easy with dogs... But where from and where to is much easier I guess. There goes direct flights from Amsterdam to Washington, were the new owner will live near by. But I guess Irena has right to look from another country. From Kopenhagen there goes standard flight, for example, too Washington, I didn't see that fromoff Stockholm yet. And from Amsterdam to Stockholm is the same price as from Amsterdam to Washington. To Stockholm is only 1 hour, to Washington is about 9 hours.. sooooo
