Marjolein Think you have to do some more explaning about the field trials. For instance only in the Netherlands they use the terms "Continental I and Continental II" Why?

Yes, we do have different groups in Holland. We have 3 groups, pointers and setter, continental I and continental II. First group is for setters and pointers. Second group is for dogs that have a wider range while quartering. Examples are all GP's, Epagneul Breton, all Vizsla's etc.etc. The third group is "our group". That's continental II, a group for dogs that hunt within gun range. Examples: Weim's, Drentsch Partridge dog, Small and Large Munsterlander, Epagneul Français, Bracco Italiano and Spinone. The contests I announced, are open only to CII dogs.

That is an excellent division of the gundogs! Very sensible, especially since Weimaraners are normally shorter ranging that GSPs. That should be the way the hunting dogs are divided everywhere, then they are judged according to other dogs that work in similar range rather than always trying to match the Weimaraner to the GSP!
