I hope this is the right board to be posting this message on, sorry for being a novice if it isn`t ! I am thinking of campaigning one, two or three of my dogs in Europe (possibly, Holland, Finland, Denmark, Germany, France, Belgium.... etc.... who knows) later this year, or perhaps next. Anyone else here from the UK compete overseas and can tell me how easy it is and what the requirements are? Or perhaps someone from one of our other European countries can tell me what shows are like there - what is required for UK exhibits to enter - and generally any other useful information. Many thanks in advance, David. David R. Alcorn RUTILUS Gundogs www.champdogs.co.uk/breeder/6410.html

Well, if you can show over there, you can show over here as well. I think you're not allowed to enter in the champ class here (holland) though. You need the national or international title for that, which is only for FCI-member countries. I think the same goes for the working dog class, but I'm not sure. You're only allowed to enter in one class per show. On most shows, you can choose from Puppy class (6-9 months) Junior class (9-18 months) Intermediate class (15-24 months) Open class (from 15 months old) Working class (from 15 months old) Champion class (from 15 months old) Veteran Class (from 8 years) Brace Class Breeders class Bitches in heat are allowed on shows over here. I assume you know the requirements for the pet travel scheme?

Hi, thanks for all the info! GREAT! I am not too familiar with the Pet Passport requirements (embarrassed), quite simply because I have not looked into it properly ... yet! As an aside - does anyone know where you can find out which countries are Pet Passport members? I was told whilst traveling through Chile about three months ago (and attending a fantastic show there, I might add ;D) there was no longer quarantine in Chile, which for me would be excellent news! Best wishes, David. David R. Alcorn RUTILUS Gundogs www.champdogs.co.uk/breeder/6410.htlm

This is where you can find all the info www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/index.htmI've been to the UK several times now, even showed one of my bitches at Crufts, I was one of the first two foreigners showing a Weim I think. At the moment, I have a 12 week old bitch, who has just had her rabies shot. We'll do a blood test in 4 weeks from now and 6 months after that, she's allowed to enter the UK, to go to her new owner (Annette Begg, you might know her). HTH!

Hi, thanks for the link, very informative, and I`m reading it between typing this!
Annette Begg - Longtails? I take it you have a longhair from her?? Lucky you! I think she did quite well with a dog at WELKS, winning Limit I`m sure. I`m also sure he was the sire of the latest Gunalt litter of longhairs, though I might be wrong?
Thanks once again for your help, David.

I went to Annette and used her Luger, the one who's used by Patsy as well. Otto, her other dog won the class at WELKS yes.
From the mating with Luger, Annette will get a pupsters. She's called Dutchess and will stay with me until she's old enough to go abroad.
