Last saturday we left home very early, to make the 500 km trip to the Lüneburger Heide in Germany.
The Zuchtschau is a sort of clubmatch. To be able to use dog for breeding purposes, this Zutchschau is an obligation.
They look very closely at each dog. There's only one dog at a time in the ring and they're judged from mouth to bum. The dogs are being measured and they even count the nipples .
Daan ended up with sg/sg and is 62 cm's. Sg stands for very good. The first one is for confirmation, the second is for the coat. I'm very pleased with this result. Just 2 longhairs (both dogs) earned 2 v's (excellent).
The second part of the day was the Wesentest, another obligation when you want to breed.
The first part of this test is the test of natural protectiveness. You have to secure the dog to a pole and leave your bag with the dog. Then you leave out of sight. A man with a hat, towel and stick provocates the dog and tries to "steal" the bag. When the dog is really scared, you fail. When the dog is not impressed, you earn a WF1 and when the dog attacks, you earn a WF2.
Well, Daan already did the man protection test in Holland, when she was only 9 months. She was the only dog who earned max. points on that test. She went for his sleeve straight away.
So I was pretty confident she would pass this test, but that was a wrong idea. She did pass, but when that man first showed up, she backed and barked. She was scared of him. After a couple of seconds she realised there was nothing to worry about and she just sat there (and let him steal my bag ). She started of really bad but thank god she ended this the way she should. I passed this test and earned WF1.
Second part of the test is something else. You can either fail this or pass this (WG0 or WG1). You have to stand in the middle of a circle (of people) and they start making the circle smaller and smaller. Daan wasn't bothered at all and even wanted to take a nap.
After that, she had to stay in the circle while I walked away. When I was like 10 mtr's away, I had to call her and I had to enter that very small circle again, with Daan healing (unleashed).
This was no problem at all so I earned a WG1.
So this was definately worth the 1000 km's...........
We've passed all the obligated tests now, for both Holland and Germany.
