Hi there!
I'm Sian, the proud owner of Cassie, my long-haired Weimaraner, who'll be 10 years old next month.
I just found this message board, when desperately searching the internet for a new LH puppy to add to our family...

Hi Sian, welcome from me and my boys Solli and Whisper.
Hope you are successful in finding your new puppy. There's sure to be a member who knows of l/h pups or impending litters.

Maby I can help You Stan, and welcome here. I know a Dutch breeder who will breed with his bitch this summer or autumn. Send me an email if you are interested. Gr. Ina

Thanks for the welcome!
Ina, I'd certainly be willing to travel as far as Holland in search of a puppy - we drove further than that to fetch Cassie in the first place. I still remember the journey back, as if it was yesterday.... When we first moved out to Belgium, I hadn't realised how few weimaraners there are here. We've only seen one other long-haired - and he was visiting from Berlin!
I'd love to post some pics of Cassie - but I don't have a URL to post them at. I'll look into what I have to do, so you can see her!
One question I have for other LH owners - are your dogs still really active in their senior years? Cassie sleeps more, when there's nothing going on. But she still looks, runs and plays like most 3 year-olds.
Anyway - we'd better get to work. (Yes, she comes to work with me!)

I've managed to do an avatar (whatever that is!), so there's a small piccie of Cassie. All I've got to do now is to work out how to put a bigger picture in...
Do I just put the URL here?

Hey Sian, sorry, missed your intro... Welcome from me and my 4 LH's at the moment. I've just had a litter and kept one. The other pup will be going back to where the owner of the stud lives, which is Blackpool, England. The Dutch man Ina is talking about, is going to use a lovely stud I have to say!!!! You can also contact Pascal Mangelschots, he's in the Belgium Weim board and he has LH's as well (Casparov v/d Putterslamp). I'll e-mail you his e-mail address. Good luck with your search!
p.s. There are quite a few LH's in Belgium really. I've sold one of the last litter to people who live in Keerbergen (in between Brussel and Antwerpen).

Umm - what's the Belgium clubmatch?!
Sorry to sound so vague. We've been living here for over a year now, but I still haven't really fully connected with the Belgium scene. I've found the Belgian Weimaraner Club website, but my French and Dutch both need quite a bit of work, before I can fully understand what's going on...
Is the clubmatch open to "normal" people? I wanted to show Cassie when she was a puppy, but all she did in "ring class" when it got to the judging bit, was to roll over onto her back to have her tummy tickled! I think she's beautiful (of course!) but I've never actually seen her next to a lot of other Weimaraners...
When and where is it?

Hello Sian, Welcome to the board. I'm also living in the south of Belgium and I own a LH bitch called Chrystal. I have just had in March a litter with a french champion. All puppies are now in their new family in Belgium, France and Luxembourg. What a pitty I cannot help you right now... I hope you will find soon a new friend for Cassie. From which part of Belgium are you living ? Claudine www.joyauxdemilady.net

The clubmatch will be held at the 27th of August in Pommeroeul. Yes, it is open to everybody. If you just want to see other dogs, check out the website for more info. If you want to enter, download an entry form and give it a go. Why not? I'm not a member of the Belgian club either btw, but I have entered my doggies.

Thanks for the info about the clubmatch, Marjolein. I've found the details, and we hope to be there! I've just got to sit down with the entry form now, and see if I can work out how to fill it in with UK Kennel Club details! I must work on my languages!! Hi, Claudine! We live just outside Brussels. I'm glad to hear that you've found homes for all of your puppies... I thought I'd try to show you a bigger picture of Cassie. Now, if I've understood the instructions correctly, all I do is put the http address here.... i6.tinypic.com/157n5gj.jpg

Tried to edit, but it doesn't seem to work for some reason. If you post a picture, you have to put in front and [/img] behind the pic. That should do. If you need help with the entry form, just let me know.... What's the breeding of your girl btw? I've just had a litter of LH's, sired by an English male. They might be related.

Thanks for the offer of help, Marjolein - I may well take you up on that! I'll dig out Cassie's full parentage when I get home (we're at work at the moment). But in summary, she's not a "typical" UK LH, because her mum was from an Irish SH litter... I'll have another go at the picture - I think I missed off the [ IMG ] stuff!

thanks Rute. I think she's gorgeous too (but then, after years of getting "that" look, I might have become a little biased!)
I'm back home again now, and have her papers in front of me... Her dad is Vimana el Supremo, and her mum is Tomirsin Aoife. I get confused when looking back, as there are little notes on the handwritten papers, showing the LH, but they are only there in part... I'll leave it to the experts, I think! I've never actually got as far as showing Casie - in the ringside classes as a youngster, she kept rolling onto her back for the judge to tickle her tummy, and I couldn't get angry with her for that! (Much to the shock of the serious show-people!)

Ok, looked her pedigree up. She's got 27 brothers and sisters out of 4 litters. She's related to the stud I've used from both dads and moms lines. In fact, when I was at Crufts back in 2002, I have seen a neice of her. The world is small, isn't it?!?!!

It most certainly is!
I didn't tell you her kennel name, did I? It's Taice Zaire - she's from the 2nd litter. We were told that one of the girls from the 1st litter were doing well in the show ring, but then after trying to contact the breeders unsuccessfully (for advice with a diet problem), we lost contact....
I guess I'm not used to talking to people who know Weimaraners! I'm so used to trying to convince people that she is a pedigree. Have you had this problem too? - For years, in the UK people would ask what she was crossed with.... And now, I find I'm struggling to explain in French, or Dutch, what a Weimaraner is; never mind a LH!!
LOL!

Hehehe, join the club Sian. But, I'm not really bothered by the fact that people don't know about LH's. I love the look on their faces when I tell them she's one of the very few LH's in Holland, after they'd asked what kind of mongrel she is, LOL!!!!!!!
I found out her kennel name must have been Tiace and I figured she must have been from the second litter, but I didn't know which bitch was yours. I spoke to Andrea Wright at Crufts, she has (or had, I don't know) Tiace Korona, a litter sis of yours.
