Hi all, I'm from australia, I have three weis 7yr old male radar, 4yr female greta and 3yr old female storm. All three are used in the field and retrieving trials. Greta is currently being campaigned in the show ring. We do a little obedience every now and then. Radar is a retrieving champion, storm and greta have their novice retrieving titles. hoping to expand our pack with a male puppy later in the year. sarah

Hi and welcome to the forum ! It will be very fun to read about yours and your weims work !! I met Greta when we were in Australia in november 2005, she´s a lovely bitch. And heard a lot of Radar to from Rosemary when we visited her and Suzanne at Bromhunds. Congratulations to your champion title and the great work you have done with your dogs !!! I also have a Bromhund bitch, she´s a Swedish Blodtrackingchampion now. And is also working in the field very well Hope to hear more from you !! regards Kristina

Greta has done so well since she came to us from bromhund. Even being handled by two people both myself and my mum she seems to work well. We are breeding with her this year with radar, we should get some great working dogs from them. Storm is radar's daugther and she turned out a fantastic(sometimes naughty lol) retrieving dog. I'm hoping to have storm ready for next year's national retrieving championship. I'm trying to get greta's show championship at the moment, hopefully she will get it by the time we breed her. Though with me handling her in the show ring it could take ages lol. (im not a good show handler). I have to give the credit to mum for radar's retrieving championship lol.

Welcome to the board Sarah. Your retriever competitions, do you run against all breeds or just other HPR's? Are they carried out with cold game or bumpers? Sorry for all the questions! I am always curious as to how other people run their competitions

Welcome to the board Sarah. Your retriever competitions, do you run against all breeds or just other HPR's? Are they carried out with cold game or bumpers? Retrieving trials are conducted with all gundogs which is group 3 here. From labs, flat coat, setters to weis. Labs take up most of the retrieving population but our weis can run with the best of them. We use cold game, usually pigeons. In training we use bummers and cold game. We do have separated field trials- HPR's have them on quail usually but unfortunately duck and quail hunting is now banned here. They are currently trying to organise field trials around the ban but it is difficult. Whats it like owning 3? well I co-own them with my mum, I don't usually have three with me, storm lives with me and radar lives with mum most of the time and greta goes between our places. But when all three are together it can be chaos especially at dinner time lol but I love it. The more the merrier. I would be surrounded by weis and still love it. Can't wait for the fourth addition, he will be living at my place. And I can't forget my chihuahua who thinks she's a weimaraner lol. She's the boss of the pack. 14 yrs old, no teeth but is the most vicious little thing.
