Thank you Narelle for posting the results of Sydney Royal here. Also thank you Paulina for your kind words about our successes at the Royal, as we call it.
Today we had even greater success as we won Best in Show at the NSW Weimaraner Club Championship show with our Susie - MBISS Aust/NZ Ch Ashlaren Crepe Suzette who has 8 puppies at home aged only 7 weeks! Susie had also won Best in Show at our 2005 October Specialty Show judged by Jamie Hubbard, USA. We also won Best Puppy in show with Ashlaren Reuben (Oska's son) and Reuben also won Reserve Challenge dog out of Puppy class. Oska's daughter also won Puppy Bitch class. We also won Open in Show with Aust Ch Ashlaren Saba Jewel (this year's Sydney Royal Reserve Challenge Bitch winner), first in Junior dog class with Ashlaren Gerroa, third in Open dog class with Aust/NZ Ch Ashlaren Mango Jelly and fourth in Intermediate class with Ashlaren Margarita. The show was judged by Dr Dana Massey of WinWeim Weimaraner Kennels in USA.
The property classes were judged by well known Weimaraner breeder,Chris Grisell of Nanis Kennels. Here we won Best Head Dog with Ashlaren Reuben, Best Movement Dog with Ashlaren Gerroa and Best Movement Bitch with Ashlaren Saba Jewel.
We have had a wonderful Easter with our dogs! (except I miss Oska!)

Who was the judge at the Sydney Royal and what sort of entries do these cluster of shows attract?

Congratulations Lainie and Rachel on your wins yesterday at the NSW Specialty. Nice to see the bitches go up! We had been planning on making the 2 day trek up to Sydney for these shows but we have a litter of nine gorgeous 2 week old babies here (Grand Champion/Dual Champion Besko The Red Baron RRD X Champion Waldwiese Reason Tbelieve TD). Plus as Claire is pregnant with twins, she is unable to handle. I will be interested to see what the English judge does today. Good luck everyone!

Hi Dan, the judge for the Royal was a Mr Reeves-Newson from Canada...

There was about 70 entered at the sydney royal and this is probably usual, same at the specialty yesterday and tomorrow....the National last year is really the only show in australia that would attract 100s of dogs....not that many people travel interstate to specialties and royals in my opinion anymore. The judge tomorrow is Mr Smith from UK.

Our Frankie, the BOB from the Royal and Carol's new import were not shown yesterday tho....

The bitch who won the specialty totally deserved it she is a quality bitch with great breed type...I rooted for her the whole way. Her record speaks for itself. I actually thought the open might go reserve.

It was commented that the US folks thought some of our weims were way too big and this was a comment made at the Nationals too.

thanks Diva has done exceptiionally well for a 2 year old but will be taking winter off for maternal duties and two of her babies will be travelling to kennels in Europe! im sure she will produce 'diva's just like herself!

We also had a fantastic day at the Royal. We took 1 dog and 3 bitches and won the Intermediate dog class with Boomer and got Reserve CC, Wink won the Junior bitch class, Cricket won the Intermediate bitch class, Amy won the Open bitch class and got the bitch cc and Boomer got R/U Best of breed. I was very impressed with the judge who I felt did a very good job with his judging overall.
At one of the specialties shows the English judge got the 1st placegetters right but messed up some of his placings.
Overall we had a fun weekend.

Although we said it all at the time. CONGRATULATIONS on your wins at the Royal Carol. Also to Suzanne of Bromhund and her boy Cusack (our friendly rivals as Susie won Best in Show on Good Friday and Cusack went Runner Up in Show and then he went Best in Show to our other girl, Aust Ch Ashlaren Saba Jewel who took Runner Up in Show to Cusack on Sunday!) I guess the most impressive thing about our NSW Weimaraner Shows is the wonderful sportsmanship shown by most of the competitiors, not to mention the great Trophies given to all the winners. (Special thanks to our Trophy steward, Val Speck of Divani Weimaraners.)

As a new member to the board I would also like to add further to the 2006 Sydney Royal results. The Weimaraner Best Of Breed listed above on Wednesday April 12 was Open Dog Grand Ch Divani 'Just A Dash', now 4 yo. As BOB, DASH had to return for General Specials on Monday (Apr 17) and he was awarded Runner Up BEST IN GUNDOG GROUP to over 640 Gundogs.
DASH has had a fantastic run at Sydney Royals, 2002-R/U Best of Breed at 7months ; 2003-BOB/Best In Group and BEST IN SHOW 4th (18m); 2005 BOB and now 2006 BOB/RUBIG . Awarded 4/5 years at this show.
DASH is a proud son of Carol's (now retired) LEVI (Imp USA) and proud father of OSKA currently very successfully showing in Europe.
We would like to pass on our congratulations to all those dogs/breeders that were successfull at the Syd. Royal and the 2 Weimaraner Specialties. It was very hard for DASH to sit on the sideline at the recent NSW Weimaraner Specialties having to recover from an injury over the 5 days between Breed and General Specials judging at the Sydney Royal.
