As is usual at this time of year weimaraner rescue is spiralling upwards. I have had 6 weims come onto rescue in the last 3/4 days.
Why oh Why do people decide that they want to rehome just before Christmas?
Just think of the poor weims spending Christmas in kennels!

Hi Cheryl, Yes I will if you want me to. I have Max and Henry 2 males living together they are 7 & 8 yrs old. Partner has left lady with 2 small children and 2 dogs and she doesnt have the time to walk them. Storm a 13 mth old male whose owners have had to move out of their house and into a flat where the landlord doesnt allow pets so he has to be rehomed. (Funny tho the person who went to vet the dog says that the husband told her they are moving to Aussie??) Anyway he is very boisterous and not to go where there are small children as he nips. Casey, no papers is being rehomed because they have an older dog and the weim is too boisterous around the older dog. Not housetrained, Not lived with kids. Henry 4 yr old male, owner split with partner and is working 14 hours a day. not fair on dog so rehoming him. Scooby, 3 yr old male, owners expecting a baby and he isnt good around young children. They had brother and family visit with small baby and the dog chewed the moses basket and baby bottle and blanket. Also growled at baby in baby chair. I am hoping that I have a home for him. Dylan around 12 months of age, was dumped at aminal sanctuary by owners friend so I know nothing about him at all. he is very nervous of people and got as far away from me as possible when I saw him at the kennels. he wouldnt even come for a biscuit, he just sat there and shook. I have no idea what has happened to him but something obviously has. The lady who dumped him left a phone number but it doesnt accept imcoming phone calls. Then there are 2 more males that may be coming into rescue. One has been left in boarding kennels since September and the owners have not returned for him. I am waiting for the kennel owner to contact me again and another one again a male whose owner contacted me but the dog is living with an ex partner and I am waiting to hear from the ex partner. Lynn

Thanks, Lynn, and sorry but I've been sick for a month and got worse last week so have been out of the loop for a week!
Life is so strange, in Alaska I just discovered everyone is looking for a male...for females to be bred with! I think because the males are usually bigger than the females no one wants them but my 80 pound male is so sweet it breaks my heart to worry about the ones you've shared information on.
I seem to have one of the only two males not neutered in Alaska and I'm having him (the 60 pound male/rescue) neutered tonight. The other male living in interior Alaska may be the one throwing hypothyroid/carrier pups but I haven't tried tracking the info down yet.
I don't understand why people give up their dog/s when they give up on a relationship. I always knew my dog/s were more dependable in so many ways than the type of man I insisted on loving:)
I wish I could be there for Dylan, Bullet was the same way when I got him last April. Bully is out of Saxman's weims, grandsire is Evad. You never know what you might get from a rescue, champion lines or not, once they give their heart, it just keeps opening and surprising you, a present every day, living with them:) Cheryl (am I really sick or allergic to work???)

Hi Cheryl, so sorry to hear you are ill. I hope you feel better before christmas so you can enjoy the festive season.
I am so worried about Dylan, he is so frightened of men, I have no idea what has happened to him. he is losing so much weight he is a bag of bones. I wish so much I could find him a home or even a foster home for christmas.
If anyone from england reads this and think they can help please do let me know urgently. I also have 2 weims who are 10 & 12 who are looking for a new home as their owner is terminally ill, any vet care needed will be paid for.
Thanks Lynn
PS: I have found homes for Scooby and Storm, Henry I hope will also be going to his new home shortly.

That's wonderful news, Lynn (the homes found).
The stress for Dylan, he may need some Rescue Remedy and Satin Balls but the stress will most likely cause IBS for a bit, at least until he's got a person to bond with. For the satin balls recipe and possible IBS from stress I would add cooked rice (white long grained) to firm up stools.
A 10 and 12 year old together would be so easy! Someone will be very lucky and happy to have such a wonderful pair! SMART SILVER!!! (old golden retrievers are called OLD GOLD)
I would also ask (it seems such a lot to ask but it would mean so much more if done) any and all friends to visit Dylan, to encourage his faith in humans again, to pet and reassure him, daily, even for 10 minutes.
In theory, resocializing him as you would with a puppy to begin with. I have found its never too late, age-wise to do this for each and every rescue. It is a healing love that steady's them:)

I have a foster home for Dylan, he is going to morrow morning. They willkeep him until after the new year. Hopefully they will be able to get some weight on him and get him used to people again. Thankfully they are having a quiet christmas with just the grandparents.
The 10 & 12 yr old are now going to the Cinamon trust sanctuary. They care for older dogs.

Wow Lynn:) Dylan is entering the road to recovery and self assurance:) Great job and when he begins to give his heart, he'll just keep blossoming:) I am also happy the 10 & 12 yr olds can stay together! It sounds like Scooby was a spoiled "first child" and now being displaced from his throne...how's he doing?

Hi Cheryl,
Scooby is doing fine in his new home in scotland. he is settling down nicely. Dylan has already established his place in the bedroom, he doesnt like to be alone. His foster parents have said that they are getting attached to him so maybe,... just maybe they might keep him. I thought I had a home for Henry but the man has split from his wife and cant now take him. I have a 16 mth old called Blue come in, he was put into kennels and then not collected, the owner has asked the kennels to rehome him. Then I had a call from a local dogs home who had a weim called Jasper 5 yr old male who I now have in kennels and need a home for. On Friday I am collecting a 6 mth old bitch called Ruby, who was taken into the vets to be PTS, the owners couldnt cope with her as she is a dominant little lady, so she is coming here for christmas.
In between all this I am working, shopping, looking after my own dogs and the family (notice how the family come last!!! lol)

Happy Holidays, Lynn:) How is lil Ruby doing with your family? Stirring the Pot? (I'm sorry, but she must by like my Princessa MistyRose, all full of herself) I'm wishing I was there, too:) It would be a superhero action time (you could just collapse and enjoy the show) with Ruby, MistyRose and I jumping, hopping and flying thru the air, and your boys looking on with you, and then I'd drag you to collect Henry, Blue and Jasper to bounce their energy out with happiness, and I'd come home to open country to live with 5 boys and two girls??? Sometimes I think it'd be nice to be a millionairess...then reality hits, there wouldn't be enough room on my bed for more! Last night I grabbed my pillow from beneath 80# Bub (Slade) and crawled in at the foot of the bed where there was lots of room... Bub didn't figure it out until 5am, then here he was, curled as near me and the pillow as he could, he's So Bub.

Hi Lynn! Hope you had a lovely time at christmas with family, friends and weims. How are the adoptions coming along? Have you found homes for the senior dogs yet? An have the others settled nicely into their new homes? Hoping for the best,

Hi Cheryl and Rute,
HAPPY hOLIDAYS TO YOU TOO
Ruby has settled in just fine. she is a little madam and has caused havoc. She has chewed my phone wires (new phone), the phone connection between my satalite box and the phone line (twice), a dog cushion that my dogs have had for a long time is now shredded...... but hey never mind!
Morgan loves having someone to play with but hates her when she sits next to me on the sofa!
Dylan is in the foster home and he has put 3 kilos on in weight....he was so skinny. They told me today that he fits in just fine and he is staying there..... brill!!!!! They now want a friend for him... an older bitch, so thats another one homed.

Great News!!! But you'd better crate Princessa Ruby till she gets the chewing thing down proper! I've got to get more bones for Bully, too! He missed me yesterday and nibbled on my daughter's tennis shoe which surprised me she didn't mind- But then she was more happy to leave last night on vacation for a week in Anchorage w/friends and brother, so we (dogs and I) are all at the son's housesitting and childless for a week! His dog and his dog's sister were not that thrilled we are invading for more than a few hours:) Those goldens are becoming predjudice in their middle age. Bully's crated today and I've included morning, noon, and night retrieves which he's loving:)

Hi Cheryl, Lynn and Rute, I too have been out of the loop for a while. Soccer season and now the holidays have tied up plenty of my spare time. We were able to take a small holiday and are home now relaxing. I knew when I rang you a couple of weeks ago Lynn that you would be busy, but goodness, how are you holding up with the new pup and the others? Wish you all a happy new year.. and a wonderful ringing in off 2007. keep me posted on things.. jai
