'You of all people know how the club rescue works so why the question?'
Because it wasn't really a question more of a dig I feel.....

Thanks Lesley, thats how I felt too! We all work hard on rescue doing the very best we can for the dogs that need our help. Its almost a full time job (voluntary) and sometimes things dont work out as we would want them to. It cant be forseen, otherwise things like this would never happen, they do occasionally as we are human.
Fortunately the dog is OK and that is the most important thing.

Being a regular checking homes for rescue dogs there really is only so much you can do, you have to take alot based on face value and gut instinct at the end of the day people can be very devious if they want to be.
I know there have been times when I've checked a home and afterwards thought 'did I get it right? Are they the right sort of people to own a rescue? will they give it everything that it needs or fall at the first hurdle??'
Its why I try to stay in touch so that when they do struggle they are not alone and I can step in where possible... but there is only so much you can do... you have to trust people otherwise we'd never be able to rehome any of the dogs...

People do say what they think you want to hear to get a puppy/older dog so yes, you do have to go with your gut instinct sometimes.

sorry about what happened Lynn.. I hope that Dexter's moment of 'self-defense' does not cost him anything in getting a new home. All puppies react to things differently and as a pup like any toddler, the first response is to bite.. But shame on that guy for thinking that he can do that to a pup who has gone through enough changes in short time! The stress the pup must of had. Falko still shakes sometimes when adults come up to him, I can't imagine how he would react if someone other than who he knows had him in a car and was trying to force him to do something. good luck.. jai

We did have another home lined up for him but the ladys hubby had to go into hospital on Thursday for an emergency knee operation. He had been at the airport going to Madrid when he bent down to take his shoes off (all part of the security checks now) and his knee popped out. The staff at the airport had to get him back thru security and the airport and put him in a taxi home. he came out of hospital yesterday but I think it will be a while before he is back on his feet, so if another home comes up in the meantime Dexter will go there, but at the moment he is still in kennels.

Oh dear - let's hope his forever home is not too far off. I am a great believer in fate. Somebody, somewhere is just waiting for him.

Fingers crossed......... The chap who put his knee out may wish to consider Craniosacral therapy, it's a wonderful gentle method of helping your body put itself back together properly. He'd probably be right much quicker.
