Lady wanted a weimaraner. Visited RSPCA centre, was told that if she wanted a weim she would have to take 2 as they dont like to be alone. She took a dog a bitch (who must have been in the kennel together). Dog about a yr old and bitch not sure how old. Turns out the bitch is in whelp and gave birth to 7 pups. She had to take the bitch back to RSPCA as she didnt know what she was doing. So now they have a bitch and 7 pups and still wont let rescue have them to rehome. These damd animal homes who think they want the best for the dogs and really have no idea what they are doing..... makes me soooo mad!!! Lynn

I just cant believe it who on earth runs these centres idiots! The poor bitch, the poor dog. Sigh.....what more can I say. Wont they let an experienced person take the dog and pups in and foster them ? Rachel

Oh my... Do you know how long the new owner had owned the two dogs before the bitch went into whelp?

you'd have thought they either got them spayed on checked before they left to be rehomed... what a nightmare.

I agree Lynn, it's not too surprising though--many of rescues like that are run with volunteer help---they have good intentions, and sometimes not much else. Very little in the way of experience or knowledge in a lot of cases, at best. At worst, people with weird ideas full of misinformaton that they pass off to the public as expertise when in fact it is completely useless at best---or downrght dangerous! Generally, the public who are not very well informed have no way to tell the difference.
I was out with Dixie and Riga once not too long ago---I was heeling them across a parking lot to a grassy area to go to the bathroom and this crazy lady started shouting at me. She was shouting that I should have them on leashes because that breed(German Shepherd) is vicious and dangerous and impossible to control--and she knows because she's an expert on dogs! Dixie and Riga were sitting right beside me waiting---the only thing that looked dangerous and out of control to me was her. My dangerous dogs and I ignored her and continued on our way. But I have to wonder how many other people she claims to be an expert to who believe her because they don't know any better?

The lady had only had the dogs a few weeks. She noticed that the bitch was getting fatter and couldnt understand why! I thought they automatically neutered dogs but obviously not. I have already said that the bitch and pups could come here but not an option!
One good thing is that she is keeping the male!

what a pity though that she should have to go through that in the first place, the more I think about this the more you can see the stupidity of it all. Don't the RSPCA normally get dogs vet checked??
The one near us is disgusting and to be honest I come out in tears but force myself to go in every now and then to see if there are any stragglers from the gundog breeds. Breaks your heart to see the conditions when you know that not far up the road is the Dog Trust where they have sofas and toys for at least a little comfort.
