Last saturday we had our first hunting day of this year. Despite the heavy winds, we took of to Ommen, which is in the east fo Holland. A client of ours has his terrain there, where he's allowed to hunt roe's. I had Mowgli with me, just in case. Off course I had my special tracking line with me too. Anyway, only a minute after we'd left to go to the platform, we already saw a roe and the hunter shot it. Another guy dragged the dead roe for 250 mtr's I think, for an artificial track for Mowgli. We decided to leave the track for a while and come back later. After an hour on the platform, it was nearly dark, and we left for the tracking. I put Mowgli on her special lead and we took off. Unfortunetely she's didn't start too well. When we arrived we saw another roe on the track, and Mowgli was a bit distracted by that. Luckily she picked up the track and started working. She actually did great, and led me to the end in no time. But.....we missed the dead roe. It was hidden in a drain. We tried very hard, but couldn't find it, so the man who dragged it had to help out. She was only 2 mtr's away from where the roe was . Might have to do with the heavy winds that was blowing the other way. Not sure, but never mind. I think she did great!

Great!! I can`t wait to start tracking with my puppy when she arrives. Never done it before (at least not seriously) but I have some idea about it at least (Mr Wetdog (my best friend) sent me some great books. Should be VERY interesting to see what we can do.
