Hi all In my quest to do something besides showing with my boy Cusack "Aust Ch Bromhund High Fidelity" I attend our weimaraner club of Victoria training day. It was great they had set up a bit of everything.. Land Retrieves, field work, tracking, obedience and water retrieves. Cusack had the best day so excited that i nearly landed on my backside a number of times with his keen enthusiasm to not only retrieve his birds but every other dogs. He proved with no training from me but pure natural ability to be a super retriever. Marking the bird straight runs to pick it up (never picked up a real bird before) he had no hesitations in picking the bird up. Oh and he was so proud brining it back to me.. I was so thrilled with him.. Then to combine this with water he was in heaven as besides eating water and swimming would be his second favorite thing. Tracking was also done with ease and we hope to actually do a prelim trail by the end of the year.... After such a great day it made me wish i had more time to put into the training.. As the great Lady of weimaraners Virgina Alexandra send to me "a dog is only every going to be as good as what the handler can do with it" In Australia we are not lucky enough to have trainers we can engaged to train our dogs for us.. If anyone knows of someone let me know... Suzanne

Suzanne---check around with some school and church youth groups. You might find some kids interested in learning to train---and if you have some dogs, and know some good trainers, how about starting a small group and getting them together, kids, dogs and you can all learn together. If you have some kids that show talent and interest--talk to the parents, maybe some rescue homes could be arranged. Maybe you could get some rescue dogs trained to basic obedience by the kids as a club project? Seems to me to be all kinds of ways you could go.
Go to my website and check out the article "How The World Works" in the breeding section.
And HOORAY for Cusak--sounds to me like you need to figure out a way for you two to share more of that together--isn't having fun what it is all about? (for him AND you)
