On Thursdy morning I decided to take Blaster on the fields to train him for the Field Trials. The area was beautiful and large. So many places for the pheasants to hide. Blaster had already had some hunting experience before as he took part in duck huntings and there were also some pheasant huntings but with bred birds and not natural pheasants unfortunately (I don't know if you've got such problems but I rarely meet natural pheasants in the fields when I do some hunting trainings with Blaster). He did Junior Hunting Trials for 96/100 points. Actually I was very angry with myself because he lost those four points not because he did something wrong but because I made a mistake. He did everything very well- searching the field, finding a pheasant and a really nice pointing- the same as his mum-Nastie (genes!) but the judges wanted to see him once again searching the field at the end and when I gave the command for searching I wanted to show that my dog cooperates with me well and reacts on the whistles to change the direction of searching and I wanted to whistle to change it and I don't know why (maybe my nerves) I did the signal for him to come back- so he did it. The judges couldn't hear it because they were quite far away- so from their point of view it looked as if the dog instead of going into the field came back to its owner- so decided to give me one mark lower for the desire to search the field. Unfortunately this category was multiplied by 4 and that's why he lost actually 4 points. It bothers me beacuse he could get 100 points and only because of me he didn't. Anyway coming back to this Thursday... I was very pleased to see him working as I think he was searching the field really well. He ran far and wide and with real passion. He did some pointings and cooperated with me magnificently all the time reacting to every signal I did and keeping the eye contact with me all the time. So I was really proud of him! I felt we were a real team. I hope he will be such a skillful learner later on as I'd like to make it better and better. I did some photos but it was dificult for me to work with my dog and take photos at the same time. I addition my camera is not a very modern one- so sorry for the quality of the photos. Despite this I hope you'll like the pictures. ;D
WHAT A NICE FIELD!
WHAT A WIND!
OK LADY, LET'S GET TO WORK.
I LOVE IT!
IS THERE ANYONE? HELLO!
THERE IS NOTHING HERE. LET'S CHECK SOMEWHERE ELSE.
A BIRDY?
OK, I DID THE JOB. NOW WE CAN GO HOME.
It's a pity I don't have a video camera. It's always nice to have some photos- especially of pointings- but there is nothing more beautiful than a weimaraner at work alive. The video recording can show you everything- the speed, style, movement etc. I'll consider buying a video camera seriously. ;D
Hugs for everyone!
