Hi All, I have been out with my dogs and those of a few friends since mid september hunting grouse, snipe, duck, goose etc. etc. I've just popped back into town today to pick up some more supplies. We are back in the field tomorrow and with luck will be there till near Xmas. I've posted some photos of the season so far at craigkoshykphoto.ca/hunting07.html/ Enjoy!!

WOW!!! The picturs are stunning! I couldn't take my eyes out of them. And the dogs are so lovely and so talented!!! How old is the younger one- the longhair weim? He seems to be great in fetching the birds! How many birds do you get in one hunting in the field? Regards Magda&Blaster

How old is the younger one- the longhair weim? He seems to be great in fetching the birds! How many birds do you get in one hunting in the field? There are two LH Weims in the series. The young pup is about 5 months old, the adult LH is 5 years old. The SH weim is almost 8 years old and the Pont Audemer Spaniel is 4. As to how many birds we get, it all depends on what we are hunting and where. There are limits set by the state for each species. For example, each hunter can take up to 6 ruffed grouse per day. We are allowed 8 snipe, 6 sharptailed grouse, 6 ducks, 6 geese etc. For some hunters, getting a limit of birds is important. For some it is the challenge, for others it is because they need the meat. For me, the limit is not important. In fact, I rarely shoot more than two or three birds in a day. I only shoot what my wife and I want to eat for diner that day...sometimes one or two more for the freezer. What is important for me is the dog work. I will not shoot a bird if the dog does not point it perfectly. I will not shoot a bird that I flush, I will not shoot more than one or two birds per dog per day. Once I have shot a bird for my dog that day, I will continue to work him/her but I will just shoot in the air when the bird flies.

would be nice if some of the guns here had the same attitude sometimes its frustrating when they make complaints about the number they have shot in a day and then they don't take any home for the pot They never go to waste but it spoils the day to see them going home empty handed having used up more than a couple of boxes of cartridges.

I agree with tasha. I used to go hunting with one hunter who if he couldn't find for example any ducks or some other birds (because we all know that there are such days and places, too, where there are no birds) he shot whatever he could including, for instance carrier pigeons or cats just to shoot something. It was disguisting and it turned me off him and going hunting with him. I have no longer contact with him now. For me he isn't a hunter because he has no honour and no rules. Chiendog I'm really happy that there are such hunters as you who have rules and do not kill the animals just to kill as many as possible and for their own pleasure taken from killing them. I can see that you're a man of honour! I would like to know such a hunter as you are so that I could go hunting with him. It would be a great pleasure. ;D Magda&Blaster

Hi Craig, Stunning pictures ... as ever !!Ann (you know, the Ann from Belgium with the LH Weim - we e-mailed yeeeaaaars ago about you getting an import LH) PS / a little off-topic remark : I was so sorry to read about Felix in another post ... I also lost my LH 10 months ago. I have a very lively youngster now (female LH again). She still helps me to get over the loss.
