hi, just joined came across this site whilst I was looking for info on whelping, I have a longhaired bitch that I imported from Germany and she's been back to a stud dog there and she is looking very large now and due date approx 2 weeks, getting nervous as never done this before!!

Great - that should widen the gene pool for the lh here. What is the breeding? Welcome to the forum btw.

Hi and welcome from me and my LH's! What dog did you use in the end?

I used Pele zum Laubwald, I like his temperament, his hunting achievements and also his conformation, we saw some of his offspring as well and they were impressive, one dog is being used for stud and a bitch is used for breeding, Gerhard has a dog puppy from Pele and he is lovely. it was a risky business taking her to Germany and hoping we had timed it on the right days but she is definately pregnant and getting bigger by the day.... Looking forward to bringing fresh bloodlnes into GB! Nicky

thanks everyone, I know you have a breeding section but anyone have ideas on whelping box, we have underfloor heating and my bitch will be having her pups in our utility room which is heated and where she normally sleeps... my husband has made a box 4ftx 4ft without a bottom as he said we can put cardboard and newspaper down in the middle and clean it easier, because of the underfloor heating he thinks this is best, we will get the benefit of the heat, I'm not convinced anybody have an opinion?
