In summary, you need to win three CCs under 3 different judges to become a UK Champion (CCs are only offered at Championship shows). There are two CCs on offer for the breed at Championship shows- one for each sex. So, you have to win Best of Sex (i.e. you have be placed over all the Champions who are entered in the Open Class) to get a CC. There is no separate Champion Class.
Typical entries for Weimaraners at Championship shows in the UK are anywhere from around 80 to over 200. These days, most entries seem to be around the 150 ish mark, depending on the judge. If it is a fair judge, you get a good entry. If it is a political judge, then more and more exhibitors will not bother to show their dogs (so entries fall).
Normally, foreign judges and good All-rounders pull a big entry (more than 150), especially if it is the first time they have judged the breed in the UK. But mostly, it is breed specialists who judge in the UK and many of them are also actively exhibiting Weimaraners. This is very different to the USA, and from what I have seen different to Europe too. Understandably then, in the UK show ring, far more importance is placed on type/kennel preference.
A poor entry would be below about 80 (! so still a lot of Weimaraners), but sometimes the shows in Scotland and Northern Ireland pull a small entry because of their location. Crufts usually always pulls a good entry regardless of the judge, because it is such a famous show.
Class sizes- well, they can be big in the higher classes. 15 to 20 is a good class entry in the higher classes (e.g. Limit, Open).
Oh, one other thing, in the UK you normally DO NOT go in the ring in catalog number order. You just go into the ring and stack your dog where ever you want to (as long as you are not interfering with another exhibit that is!).
