I talked to someone from Russia the other day and she said she had worked at a kennel (not Weims though) in Japan. She said the Weims she saw there were mainly from Australia.
Anyway, I am just curious now what the situation is like in Japan? Are there many Weims, and what lines, and what do they do?
I tried searching through Google, of course, but didn`t have much luck.

Hi! A LH puppy was exported from Norway to Japan last year. The sire was NVCH Aquavit fra Hølondaskogen a very good dog that has many field and retrieving prizes. He is also a tracking champion and has done very well in the show ring. The bitch was Hella's Kraudi (I hope I'm spelling the name right.)

When Dianne Thomas of Ataway Weimaraners (New Zealand) died in the mid 1990's she sent 2 or 3 of her breeding stock to a breeder in Japan. Not sure what happened to them or how they did. The dogs behind them were Rifleman Poachers Moon, a Gunalt dog Dianne imported, and a bitch bred by Carnmellis kennels going back to Nanis Totally Awesome and Bromhund Ellice. So a pretty mixed bag and I always wondered what became of them.

Thats interesting about Diane Thomas the story I heard was that she wanted them all put down in her Will!
I haven't seen or heard of her dogs in Japan, I know there are Smoky City Weis there, that is right there is a dog from Black Forest Weims...there is an Aceweis dog who originally went to New Zealand then ended up in Japan...we have exported both a longhair and a shorthair to Japan, the longhair's lines are basically Smokeedees (Tasmania) and the shorthair we sent was sired by Am Ch Arokat's Echobar Riverdance out of Aust Ch Kadma Xtra Special Sage AI. I believe the owner of "lara" has imported a dog from Smoky City in the USA and bred his dog to lara...got some quite nice pups.
But I agree that its a little difficult to find out whats in Japan.

Dianne had some of her dogs pts and cremated with her. The others she exported before she died. The aceweis dog was one of the lot she sent to Japan.

The Aceweis dog became a Japanese Champion because I remember Jill (Aceweis) ringing me very excited (and surprised) when she heard the news. A judge we knew from here had judged in Japan and had bought back a journal and the dogs was mentioned in that particular edition. Jill didn't know the dog had even been sold over there.

Well that would have been how things went with Dianne at that stage. The dogs name was Aceweis Beam Ryder, wonder what happened to the others.
