Hi Liz, No, I have not seen a Blue in Australia, and to my knowledge, neither has anyone else. The 'three dogs' I was refering to, was fust a way of saying that we have been swamped by American blood. I could have said 99.9%, it was just a turn of phrase. We don't have stud books in Australia. Although you don't have a location on your profile, do I gather you are here in Oz? I know Tell is not related to the Strawbridge dogs, I was just saying there are few here now (the reference to 'the three') that don't have him way back, that's all. Wendy

Are there no publications whatsoever in Australia which record every litter whelped? In the UK, we have something called breed record supplements which are produced quarterly by the KC and detail all the litters whelped, dogs transferred, exported etc. within that quarter.
I am not quite sure how the stud book works in other countries but in the UK, I guess the stud book is the canine equivalent of Who's Who (detailing all the dogs who have qualified into the stud book, where they qualified and a three generation pedigree). The stud book together with the breed record supplements are invaluable for pedigree research.

Wendy, I am sorry but we do have stud books in Australia - they are all the records held by each Kennel control council and published in each and every dog journal monthly. Wendy I think you know who I am as I told you in the last email that I had written the book Searching for Silver Grey. I know that without the stud books there would have been no book written by us. The only correct data base is the Stud Book. The Victorian Kennel Control Council has a full set of journals from all over Australia as well sets from overseas. We even have the breed record supplements that Daniela is mentioning in her email. The Victorian Canine Association Library in Victoria is one of the best in Australia (in fact it may be the only one). Maybe you didn't buy our book at the National. I would be most interested to receive a copy of your pedigree that you claim has a direct link back to Strawbridge, could you please forward me a copy, gundog@netspace.net.au. It would be most appreciated. Liz Harding
