I'm really angry with myself that I do not speak German! There are so many interesting things about weims at German websites and those forums! Lately I have promised myself to start learning! So.......when I learn German I will surely enter your forum. Now I can only use my on-line translator and read posts.

That's why I introduced the members of the German board to this board. I visit the German board every day, but can't reply in German. Hope some members will join us! I do feel Germany is the base of the Weim and I really like their tests and the way they're breeding. We could learn from them I think!!!

Sven, your English is just fine! I, too, want to learn German. The trouble I have with the forum (which I have looked at) is I can't understand any of the buttons or titles ;-( Makes it a bit hard to navigate! Perhaps I can find a CD rom to use. I wish I had taken more notice in school! Wendy

Not really Tasha. The best way to find a stud is to become a member of the Deutsche Weimaraner Verein. You'll get their magazine with all the results in it of all the test that have been done and it also has a list od approved studdogs in it.

Tasha, are you a hunter? If yes, you can maybe buy a puppy in Germany, that will be docked. If no, it will not be easy to get a puppy from Germany.

game keeper, you can't get more of a hunter than that at least not in the UK :-) At the moment I do everything from Birds both mainland and foreshore, deer, fisheries and help out with boar so we have good opportunities for a good working dog. I've brought a cocker spaniel to do the hardest of the grounds we have but to be honest bonnie my weim is more than capable but I found that she works brilliantly as part of a two dog team. I do not need to shoot myself as I work alongside paying guns although we do obviously do all the pest control and dispatch animals that are ill or injured when necessary.
I am however looking for a weim dog with strong hunting instincts bonnie was lacking these and its taken alot of hard work to get her to work well. I feel the german dogs who are bred specifically for hunting will offer more opportunity and drive. Finding a good breeder who is prepared to send a dog to the uk or to breed with my bitch is however proving difficult so any assitance would be appreciated.

hey, guys:) we do have babelfish translator online:) babelfish.altavista.com - just enter the block of text and translate it into another language:) It's quiet easy, you see:) I usually do it when I need to translate something into Russian, their KIRILICA is very difficult to type, so I write in English, then translate it and copy/paste to my clients eheheh. But you have to know a little in chosen language - robots do not translate without mistakes:)

Good Luck Tasha.. I too have been looking for a puppy and I live in Germany. I have met only one person who has a weim tail docked and got him in Darmstadt Germany. I do not believe that this woman is a hunter, nor do I believe she belongs to the german dog club. But I think because her husband is with the military (american) that may be a factor. Also, there is a military close to that area. Hope you are successful! if so, can you pass on the name for me?? LOL Jai

One of our docked pups has been sold to an American soldier living in an American military base in Germany. I don't remember the city (but it sounds familiar?), because an export pedigree had to be sent to Germany via America by military post. The soldier was a hunter. His wife wasn't. May be it is the same dog....?

I met one soldier at the soccer field out here walking his new pup about a month or so ago. he told me he got his pup from Poland.. he also could not remember where, but the other pup is almost 1 that they got in Darmstadt. Szarasfora, your puppy that I saw with the american was beautiful and had a nice hard bite.. (lol) jai
