Just showed some recent pics of Audry to someone I respect a lot and who is very knowledgeable about Weims. The person said she looked this and that but that must be because she is growing. While I could agree with some of the things (poor timing to photograph too, and I am still learning to stack her in the best way), I am also not blind and could see that the other things were far from the truth. I just made a note to myself to never criticize a dog's conformation unless the owner has specifically asked me to do it, or if I am the dog's breeder. On the other hand, before I got Audry, I also used to critique everyone else's dog in my mind (not aloud though, LOL). I guess I still do, but now that I have HER, I just can't believe how lucky I am - every time she stacks herself and looks at something intently, I think I could watch her for hours. Every time we have a walk in the city, I can't take my eyes off the shop windows reflecting her perfect trot. I am just lucky to have what I have always wanted to have and MUCH more in this pup.

Hi Mar, LOL, thankfully it is only some people that can't rest until they have found SOME faults, LOL. (Or at least said something nasty or discouraging) I think they wouldn't recognize perfection even if it bit them in the butt. ;D They always say there is no such thing as a perfect dog, but wait till they describe someone they are loyal to - that is a whole different story, and only superlatives are used then. Ugh, sorry, I'm just being extra-sensitive and just plain grouchy. I waited for many long years to get SUCH a puppy, and it is paying off in every way. LOL It's like, if you want to critique, tell me what REALLY is there - why invent things that aren't and won't be there - just to spoil my mood?

Irena, I can't believe that you are even giving this persons comments second thought. I too, like Mar, think that Audry is lovely. And I mean lovely. She has everything going for her, and you really have done your homework with her. Sometimes puppies go through different stages, as they do in every breed, but I think you know enough about the breed to know that. Perhaps this person is jealous - or is trying to spoil it for you deliberately. I know that when I bring Anya home, she will get nice comments, and not so nice comments, but as long as we are not kennel-blind, they can't tell us anything we don't already know. As for the photos, keep posting them, because I think you are showing real progress.

Now on annual leave and wrapped up my pressies, I thought I would look through some of the old posts that I appear to have completely missed first time around.....
Dare I ask, have you shown any more updated pictures of Audry to this person?
I don't think I have ever asked anyone other than my Mother what they thought of a dog and if I have, which I don't recall, I'd take it with a pinch of salt!

And this is from the lady that gets upset when I tell her how wonderful SHE is--because she says she's not perfect and she knows it..............

I have a couple of mentors that discuss dogs with me, and that is the only way I could have ever learned anything. I am very grateful to them. Off this topic (water under the bridge now, I have grown a much thicker skin now! LOL), I have recently read a fantastic book, whose author among other things says: "No dog is as bad as the competitors think he is, and no dog is as good as the owner thinks he is." (Pat Craige Trotter) There is definitely a very fine line and you can hurt a person easily (especially someone who is elated because their dream just came true! ), but at the same time I still do appreciate opinions of people that know what they are talking about and are not saying it just to find SOME faults and, worse yet, because they have dogs of a different type, quality etc. I would never criticize a person's dog to them if I really didn't like it, it just makes no sense, it is apparent we have different tastes so why hurt the person's pride and waste time. However I think I might ask the owners of dogs I like, what they think about one or another thing about them, because I am interested in learning as much as I can and if their dog is of a similar type (or something else that I like), I might ask respectfully and I hope it will not offend anyone.

Being in dogs and having a thick skin is a good combination. :-)

We have a rule that we never ask ANYONE what they think of our dogs...
We don't have the perfect Weimaraner and neither does anyone else. Everyone likes different types at any rate so why ask.

The perfect dog still need to be born , and probably never will. Close to perfection is the golden rule every breeder wants to reach.
I appriciate all types, however I have also a preference for a sertain type. But It doesn't mean the other types are bad. I really not appriciate breeders who are kennelblind ! And I hate jealous breeders. I certainly doesn't know what the intention is of such people !
No dog is bad, every dog has a quality, if it's now in show, hunting, obedience or just as a pet....
