Hi everybody,
I'm going to buy my first Weimaraner here in Australia towards the end of the year. I asked a lot of breeders (actually all of them) and some were really good. As there aren't too many of them and not all breed when I'd like a pup, it was a bit easier. I asked for a pup of a line with proven 'work' experience like agility, obedience, tracking etc rather than a show or hunting line. I now came up with a handfull of breeders. How do I really know which one to pick? Is it rude when I asked for references? As they all over Australia it's a bit difficult to go and visit all of them.
Does anyone has suggestions how to choose the right breeder and therefore (hopefully) the right puppy?
Any help is very much appreciated!

A lot of breeders I know actually choose the pup to match the owner. I think any breeder would be pleased that you are doing such a good job of your homework and why shouldn't you ask for references. I would just chat and chat with them all and your dog will probably find you - mine did.
I had been speaking to a breeder about a pup but she was promised to somebody else. My husband had left to go up North on business when I got a phone call to say she had decided to let me have the pup as the guy was messing her around moving house etc. I hopped on a train and travelled about 250 miles where my husband met me and we went to pick up Abbie.
Ideally though you are in a position to find a pup to match you and your needs. Good luck in your search. Exciting isn't it!!!
