Hello to all you fellow Weim lovers! I have a bitch who should be whelping in 15 days time. My worry is that we lost her last litter, 6 perfect babies, all still born. The vet thought that it must have been a viral infection that killed the pups a few hours before the birth (she had been bitten by a lab 2 days before). I have had the Herpes vaccination (1st injection 10 days after having her mated- the last one 10 days before the birth) done this time, but I'm so worried that its going to happen again that I'm considering asking the vet to do a Cesarean even though it probably isn't necessary.. Does anyone have any advice? Should I ? What are the risks for my bitch? Will she 'bond' with her babies as she would do for a natural birth? It was heart breaking watching her calling & searching for her pups.. I would be devastated if it happened again. Thanks Silver

No caesarian of course, unless absolutely necessary.

I'm with Mar unless there is a genuine medical need why make your dog go through something that is absolutely unnecessary and might end up with you losing your dog under a GA? Not worth the risk.
