Yesterday a Russian Black Terrier was stolen together with the owner's car in Warsaw, Poland. The dog is the famous ARBAT BAHRAI, champion of several countries and multiple Best in Show Winner. The story actually sounds almost like a nightmarish action film, since the owners' car was fired at, and the owners then tricked out of the car by being told it was on fire. The robbers then drove off in the car, with the dog still IN it. I just read about it on our Latvian dog board at www.dogs.lv and refused to believe it before the breeder/owner of the dog left her message confirming, unfortunately, that it is true. So I'm posting this here knowing that we have people from Poland visiting and being members of our board. Please look out for a Russian Black Terrier male and send ANY information that might be useful to bahrai@inbox.lv

I am in a deep shock! :oHow could it happen? Was the dog stolen by accident or did the thieves intend to steal the dog itself? I will post this message at our Polish dog forums. And I will look through the adverts boards. Maybe there will be any news.

Thank you very much, ANY help will be very, very much appreciated. I understand that the people who did it actually followed the car for a while, since the owners stopped several times to ask directions to the hotel, and when they got there, the racketeers were already there. I am really not sure if they were after the car or after the dog, but chances are they would have noticed the dog if they had been following the car for a while. This is just what I read in the original topic on our forum. I guess I should try to get any details about the car from the owners just in case it is spotted anywhere; but of course the dog could be anywhere by then, and not necessarily at the same place. He was, as I inderstand it, in the back of the car behind a barrier and could not get to the thieves.

OK, just found out - the thieves wanted to steal the car - it is a silver metallic 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser, licence plate KP 49.

Do you know anything about its tattoo number? Does it have docked tail?

Nope, no idea about the tattoo or chip number, but yes, he has a docked tail. Posting a pic of him (took it from their website):

The most recent information is that such a dog has supposedly been seen in Radarova street in Warsaw where the last stop of a tram line is, and there is also a small store 20-30 metres from it. They hung Arbat's poster nearby and apparently someone responded. Please, please keep looking out for a Black Russian Terrier ANYWHERE in Warsaw and the rest of Poland, he could be anywhere by now.

I keep my fingers crossed for the dog and their owners, too. I really hope that he will be found soon. Today in my mail-box I have found a newsletter about the missing, sent by our Polish Kennel Club. So more and more people know this story and we have to believe that there will be the happy end.
